Let's not forget that Tesla stock is traded like a tech company. A tech company that is nearly 10 years late on delivering on its promise of self driving cars. And let's not forget that there are companies that have better self driving cars than Tesla: Waymo for one, but also Mercedes Benz and BMW. Tesla was built on lies.

On top of all that there is this odometer scandal rolling on. Tesla obviously intentionally cheated on the mileage of their cars make the odometer read more miles then the cars have actually been driven. This is a major fraud.

One reason Musk wanted to cripple the US Government because a number of agencies had investigations. USAID had three ongoing on investigations. Tesla has been investigation about pollutioon from battery production. Tesla had employee relations, and Musk is antiunion and he wanted the NLRB hobbled, which Trump has tried to do by dismissed jf Democrats on the NLRB.

My take- the Tesla board has a dilemma- WITH Elon the car company will never have competent management that will find honest solutions for their problems and defuse the bad publicity he causes.
But that stratospheric stock price was mostly the Elon show. They'll never recover that market cap again with someone focused on making good cars with reasonable service records if they aren't also making crazy claims about robots and driverless taxis in underground tunnels.

Ford Chevrolet and many other companies have had many more recalls. It not just a Tesla issue on recalls. It's the parts that have to be used from companies using bad parts. All auto companies are hurting because of this.
