On PC I find the mouse look feels a bit weird in this version like there is acceleration turned on.
A pretty decent fix for this is turning off the vsync through your GPU's control panel.

The business side of things pertaining to this release is most definitely a PR nightmare.
I waited for this version to be on sale for like around $3.

This version isn't horrible per say... but it sure is scummy and relatively underwhelming with all things considered.

i think you should record your own voice in modded duke nukem game all commentary and record new stuff and funny stuff please do it and make video about it

Nightdive Studios and Bethesda gave a much better treatment to Quake than Gearbox and Nerve Software did to Duke Nukem

The worst part of this port is the overkill homing property on the shrinker. It's normally pretty good, but it locks onto the center of the enemies, and Gearbox didn't fix the problem of needing to hit the battle-lord and overlord in the feet for them to be shrunk, nor did the fix the jank hit-boxes on them. You also can't turn off auto-aim in the console versions to fix the issue. Otherwise it's a food port.

God I found the mouselook to be dreadful. Thankfully, the GRP files for this can be played with Raze.

They need bluepoint to remake this game.. seriously..

I really enjoyed this game. I remember playing the first level at a friend's house on their ps1 way back when but this was my first really dive into the game. Shit was kick ass. Controls buttery smooth too. I played Ion Fury directly before this and controls are night and day. Ion Fury has this acceleration thing when aiming that really throws me off. The auto aim is negligible and I'm a terrible shot. And almost every enemy is hit scan. Duke though? Had a blast all the way through.

Got this on Switch recently during the eshop black friday sale and have been playing the hell out of it. Duke 3D's becoming one of my favorite fps games!

I always loved DN, even the infamous DN:4Evar we waited and many hated, but I personally actually enjoyed it, especially when it was only $5 with every addon included you couldnt beat that sweet ass deal. I think everyone was just expecting something insane as if they actually grinded on development for 13 years straight lol.

5 bucks for a full fun game with all its addons even if they lacked in some area's, it was definitely worth the $5 i paid. Not many games you can buy for $5 that are worth a damn these days especially. (Steam xmas sale at the time )

Oh man, I played Duke 3D on the N64 when I was 9. I got my ass kicked and got stuck in the prison level - my girl hide just didn't have the thick skin and grit to pull thru, given I was more used to playing Ocarina and SM64.

Just today, now that I'm almost 4 times that age, I bought it in the XBoner for 3 bucks. I am surprised just how quickly I am mowing all the alien bastards now!

Cons and pros, this game deserves to be played by the youngins of today. Duke's raunchy humor should never be toned down - after all, he's a lone man in a world filled with unspeakable alien horrors, and seeing him revel on it instead of being a scaredy chicken just makes the entire adventure feel like it's worth it.

As of 07/18/2022, the game is 3 bucks. If in doubt, just get it and prove your mettle against old gamers like me!

I bought my digital copy for 10 dollars on switch and it ran and worked pretty good and I personally love it.

How do they release something that's messed up like you pointed out. How hard is it to try out all kinds of new weapons and enemies? Is it really that tough? Voiceover is shit.

Got Megaton Edition on Zoom Platform and I'm very happy; it also includes "Penthouse Paradise", "Duke!ZONE" 1 and 2, and the canned "Duke, it's Zero Hour!". Got the 20th Anniversary Edition from the salty seas and was left unimpressed. Sure, some of the maps are pretty cool (Giza, Moscow, Hollywood Cliffs, Golden Gate Bridge), but others are either forgettable (London?) or downright bad (Amsterdam, Rome). The flamethrower is a nice touch, but it's frustrating to use. The new enemies (not just the Firefly Trooper and Flame Cycloid Emperor, but also the Overlord Sentry) are just meh. Hated the new visual effects - ugly and unnecessary. What I did like, though, were the developer commentaries. It was interesting to listen to, even though it stopped the game's pacing. Well, at least I didn't waste any money on it.

I got Duke Nukem 3D for Nintendo Switch.

One thing I did notice is, they left out the reload button. A lot of people assume it didn't have one because it's old like Doom and Wolfenstein. But it actually DID used to have a reload key on PC, which was 'R'.
This can be incredibly frustrating when you know you've only got one shot left in your mag, but you don't want to waste it. But you know if you don't, you'll get caught with your pants down in combat.

Weirdly enough, the sound quality sounds better on Switch then On Ps4 and some others.

The Cursed Randy Version of Duke 3D™

Megaton Edition wasn't amazing it was a poor port with broken online and a bug which really breaks the single player.

Must admit I just snagged it for like two dollars lol, haven’t played this game in a very long time so I’m glad this video is still helping out even to this day.

The problem with new content from devs in the spirit of the old content is the fact it will inevitably be tainted by modern times.

It's like Simon Furman's well meant yet highly flawed trips into the past of Transformers lord with new extensions of the Marvel comics run. Is the classic art style and expansion great for nostalgic fans, yes they are. Can we say Regeneration One or Secrets and Lies are what Simon Furman would have given us had the Marvel run not ended when it did, no. There was an entire catalog of expansions since, that informed Furman's "new classic" work.

By the same token the new Duke levels aren't what we'd get by the same devs who made Duke 3d, they're what we got after a ton of influences and changes to their creative outlook. The very same artists often are unable to recreate their old work because they aren't the same people now as they were then, and work can either improve or suffer for it.

Seven years have come to pass, and just as I thought that there might be a window of hope for Duke, Take-Two interactive buys out Gearbox.

Talk about rubbing salt into the wound.

On sale for 1.99 so i bought it.. This is the third or forth time I've bought Duke nukem 3D..

I've had the Megaton Edition since it came out on Steam, and i just bought the 20th aniversary yesterday and they fixed the muffled sound effects and added the option for using the original Duke voice for the old levels with the exception of the new campaign which uses the new lines for obvious reasons.

I'm glad the audio was fixed. It's $2 on Xbox now. Very tempting.

I just bought this on my Xbox series x for $1.99 for that price it's a must have!
