Somnio - Movie Review

Years later after watching this vid and this is a movie I have come back to a couple times a year ever since. Such an excellent movie, and I may have never found out about it had it not been for this video, so thank you very much my good man!

This movie was absolutely amazing, I couldn’t tell that the movie had a 125,000 budget whatsoever.. now that I think about it, it doesn’t surprise me, thinking about how many sets there were. But I feel like if you didn’t enjoy this movie, the plot was just too complex for you to comprehend.

This movie was amazing

Yes, the writing is strong BUT (definitely going to reference the movie Moon) the lead actor is on par with Sam Rockwell and his performance in Moon. Without the lead actors absolute dynamic performance, the film would have fallen apart. Watched it for the first time yesterday and I adore this film.

To me, it felt like the film didn't know where it was going. It had this great premise, but that was all it had. After that, everything fell apart.
Plot points were introduced just minutes before they were used, characters introduced only to be removed from the film entirely after just a few minutes and an ending twist that simultaneously was telegraphed from the first scene of the film and at the same time made no sense at all.

And those two last scenes? Those made absolutely no sense. Spoilers right here, you have been warned.
We see "Dream Gabby" out in the real world, she's in another cell. We know it's another cell and not just a reflection or memory in Frank's cell, because we can see the state of the room, and there's no sign of the Cleaner Bot.
But one scene later, we hear that everyone else in the facility was dead, nobody found alive. So that means Gabby is dead, right? Nope, very last scene, Frank meats "Gabby", who is actually Abby, but the real-world version. And she still got that photo of the tree that Frank was rescued by, like a massive coincidence.

It might be a lame attempt at throwing some pseudo-intellectual "did he really get out" twist at the very end, but it really didn't feel like it. It felt like we saw two different endings smashed together, one where Gabby had been another inmate all along and one where Frank got to meat the Real-World version of her.

Pandorum was much easy to understand, I still confused with this...why he came out with desert, 2nd time in mountains...

The girl in the film is the perfect gorgeous but everyday girl to make this work. If she'd been "too perfect" it wouldn't have worked, but she's this cute ginger with a few flaws and they didn't over makeup her, and it worked perfectly.

I just caught this on Prime. It's amazing.

Finally found this film under its new title "Infinity Chamber" and wow! Yes, this is a really good film that deserves more attention...Maybe not quite on the level of Moon or District 9 but certainly up there as one of the best outright Sci-Fi movies of the past decade.
I'm not sure where I got the name Somnio from but I marked it down months ago on a movies to watch list on my laptop and if it was from one of your videos that I got the recommendation I have to say thank you :) {I know I haven't seen this video before, I don't watch reviews of movies I haven't seen just in case}.

I saw it strictly by chance. Loved it.

Just watched this on Netflix got way more then I was expecting . The acting was great the writing was great definitely saving it to the list lol

Intriguing plot horrible ending. Too many loose ends. Zero closure for any of the characters. Doesn't show the psychosis solitary confinement can cause. Soooo many issues with this I wanted to scream at my tv.

Somnio is officially being released to theaters! Only the title has been changed to "Infinity Chamber." Like everyone else, when this review first came out it actually drove me crazy cause I wanted to see it so bad. Anyways, Just thought everyone should know...

I always enjoy your videos man. Especially the good bad games; definitely the best breakdown of Golden Axe: Beast Rider. No other review offered a complete perspective from beginning to end without just cursing the game for its faults. It would be really interesting to see more or even if you did an "Exploring" or a review of the AVGN movie.

I both Love and Hate you for bring in this to my attention, Pandorum is up there with Alien and Event Horizon to me, and that the fact that this doesn't have distribution right now makes me very sad
