I feel like this was Gibson's subliminal critique on DEI by making the female lead so weak, careless, and insecure. She only won by getting lucky at the end.
Ответитьbout time he made the six billion dollar man or let someone else make it
ОтветитьSounds like a film made for Trump, literally.
ОтветитьShouldn't Mel Gibson have stayed away from the director's chair, as he seems to love brutality/cruelty more than he loves (human) characters?
ОтветитьThe innocent tone of Mark's review is absolutely outstanding. I'm calling it early, the best review of 2025🤣
I still think Apocalypto is one of the best, (and oddly, most inclusive, anti-corporate, and properly gory) films ever made.
And Wahlberg is the best character in 'The Departed'
Worrying developments in Hollywoodn't...
It's funny looking at the poster now - they intentionally try to obscure the fact he's bald in it.
ОтветитьHilarious review... and very accurate.😃
Ответить“Is that a joke” made me hoot.
ОтветитьIt was gloriously unambitious, trashy fun. The kind of picture Hollywood would knock out once a week in the 1990s
ОтветитьI did not expect a Dragged Across Concrete reference....but it's always welcome.
ОтветитьThis is one of the worst things I’ve ever seen
ОтветитьPassion Of The Christ 2: Crucify This
ОтветитьI saw adverts at cineworld 6 months ago for this. That's normal for major releases, did this bowl of bollacks get held back for re-editing / attempts at revovery.
ОтветитьThis film was so boring, I nearly thought of watching Star TrekSection 31, nearly....
Ответить"Welcome to four years of hell" as LA wildfires wasn't already bad enough for Hollywood
ОтветитьI do love it when Mark hates a film because he hates it with such conviction and logic. It’s pretty rare these days as many films that have come out lately have been really good.
ОтветитьPassion of the Christ 2: This Time It’s Personal Jesus
ОтветитьQuite interesting that, what with everything else, we can now blame bad films on Trump as well. Well, I'm up for it if you are 😁
ОтветитьAfter that review, I kinda wanna see it now
ОтветитьDon’t think I’ve agreed so completely on a film with as this one. Was an utter mess, almost to the point of being entertainingly laughable.
And he totally right, the best actor over the radio
I didn't like it. I do not know why a panjeet was used as the air traffic advisor who made numerous mentions of wanting to date the white woman, and when they finally landed, there was Mr Panjeet waiting to date and bed the white woman. I did not like the CGI landing sequence, it felt rushed and tacky. I did not like the female actress either, i am not overly keen on Mark Whalberg at the best of times, and the movie just felt average or worse and coming from a Hollywood legend i was definitely disappointed.
ОтветитьHilarious review. Does this one almost fall into the it’s so bad, it’s good category? Thought not.
ОтветитьWhy does the bald cap comment have me thinking of the Peter Serafinowicz Michael Caine sketch?
ОтветитьMAGA Mussolini! Best. Description. Ever.
ОтветитьThe most rubbish trailer I've seen in decades.
ОтветитьPeople slate these movies but they're actually alright if you go to the Cinema. I enjoyed it even if it does not meet the super high cinematic standards
I like seeing Michelle Dockery in a US accent.
I love Mel Gibson's films as a director; it's unbelievable that he made such a turd, but my hunch is that it was just a warm-up exercise before tackling his next epic. His previous film came out nearly a decade ago, so he was rusty to say the least.
ОтветитьYou forgot to mention the AI generated motel at the start!!
ОтветитьTexas chainsaw has no gore in it
ОтветитьI slept through most of it and I’m not sorry.
ОтветитьTell us what you really think Mark 🤣miised you when BBC dropped all their best progs, only just found your channel - love it, thanks 👍
ОтветитьHe hates mel
ОтветитьJon Voight, Mel Gibson , James Woods and Sly are part of a secret order that is deeply infiltrated into Hollywood working from within to save it from the Hellfire.
ОтветитьSadly, the premise here is great. It's one of those very old-school thriller premises that could have made a great film. Unfortunately, it doesn't.
Ответитьmel gibson has directed better films than this
ОтветитьI think Mark Wahlberg is a nasty hypocrite, especially looking into his violent past, so it's no surprise to me his ability to come across as scary. I am so glad he found God and the let-out clause.
ОтветитьIt's really quite a decent movie – one thing, very much not the other.
That one thing essentially is simply a stage play filmed for the screen, and so what it’s very much not is an effects laden or editing driven cinematic stunner. The film very much knows what kind of a film it is. It couldn’t be anything other, while it seems that some reviewers can’t come to terms with that cinema can also admit this “one thing” – the filming of a written for stage play.
I've read numeroua reviewers reacting to this filming of a very simple stage play in a way bewildering to me. “It’s not Braveheart or Apocalypto”. Was anything ever more clear – or more intended? Of course it’s not Braveheart or Apocalypto, nothing like those films and you couldn’t get further away from them. That’s the point.
Flight Risk is a large distance away from the realm of films which are considered for being some of the best movies ever made, but it really does work quite well on its own, much more low-key, lower dramatic expectations level. There very much is room for screened stage plays. It’s actually a real ask to produce a more or less single scene movie, as if in a stage context, within the very confined space of a tiny plane and using no more than three characters (excepting the phone calls made).
I think all involved have done very well indeed and I honestly don’t understand criticism of the actors. This is not a great screenplay by any means, but it’s still a distance better than the typical tripe found often in the majority of Hollywood blockbusters. Further, the three lead actors do really well in bringing their characters, sketched in the screenplay in rather a simplistic way, intentionally, into existence sympathetically. Wahlberg particularly is quite excellent. I didn’t think he quite had that in him as a mainly action film actor, though both Dockery and Grace are also effective in bringing their characters to life.
Must disagree on a few points here:
Texas Chain Saw Massacre is not a particularly violent film at all
& Mark Wahlberg has never been good & after Boogie Nights, that is a career you can flush down the toilet & Boogie Nights alone would not leave a satisfactory skid mark on the bog roll I'm afraid to say.
Kermode does hold a grudge - good lad.
Ответитьjust got home from this movie. definitely "one of the worst films I've ever seen". horrible.
ОтветитьI don't get what Mark is complaining about tbh. I found the movie very entertaining. Sure it's no Citizen Kane, but it's an enjoyable action romp that doesn't outstay its welcome by being too long.
ОтветитьWhat a fantastic review.
ОтветитьStarring Mark Bahldberg?
ОтветитьDefinitely not the worse film ever but a great Friday night B movie
ОтветитьI wish Mark would really review some S.Craig Zahler films or discuss them.
ОтветитьGibson missed a trick by not calling it Passion Of The Christ 2: I Know What You Did Last Supper
ОтветитьThought Mark was maybe being hyperbolic and taking the piss about the baldness. Turns out no....he wasn't.
Ответить"Or in this case, Psycho killer, WTF!" hahaha I absolutely snorted!
ОтветитьThis film is so simple and harmless. It is hilarious how offended Mark is by it. I really enjoyed it for what it was.
ОтветитьNo kermode your colleagues are not wrong, just because you disagree does not mean there wrong, besides this is 1persons opinion i never saw "the Abys" with ed Harris for many years because a reviewer said it was "Abysmal"
When i did see it i enjoyed it
So dont accept someone's opinion watch it and find out for yourself...
