Personally as a gay man, it was totally out of the blue. I remember during curse of Osiris the whole idea that they were totally Brest friends and stuff was super cool and interesting. I loved the idea that they were just total bros and not lovers.

The only one I thought was slightly done well was Amanda and Crow.

All the rest of them were not great and felt like they were distracting from the main plot line. Seasonal content model always annoyed me, every part of it not just its stories feel redundant and repetitive. Most of the stories involved our character being placed in the middle of weird therapy sessions for other characters that feel unatural.

I still think there’s only been 2 high points to Destiny story telling, The Taken King and Witch Queen.

I really think forsaken was overated, all that campaign involved was cayde being written like a cringey bad marvel movie and fallen that were turned into scorn that have childish dialog.

The other ones were just boring (including RoI).

Final shape is also overated, it only felt good when that one scene with the “statue ppl” occurred. All before that it was just us finding characters and resolving things that were already resolved in previous story lines (Zavalas story).

Its 2025 and people still are stuck in the 1900s😂😂

If characters being gay is your issue then it sounds like you guys have some other problems as well. Disliking a romance because of the plot or their charisma with each other makes a lot more sense than it does to hate it just because theyre gay.
