I'm an atheist, if God and Jesus are real (because no one has absolute certainty on how we and the rest of the universe came into exist, my belief is that we are a fluke in a tiny blip in time and I'm okay with that) then they would certainly understand why I would doubt their existence. They would see the modern world and, to many standards of their vast knowledge and forgiveness, that miracles that only happened in a certain era would soon become stories to many rather than fact. I question why they would not give us in the modern world a miracle to prove their existence. That kind of thinking goes similar to other religions. I respect that people have faith, I hope that they can equally respect my views, not seeing them as determental but an alternative way of seeing life. To me, us being a small moment in the vast expanse of time makes me feel lucky and that enjoying life is the most important thing we can do. We shouldn't push beliefs onto each other, we should respect the decision that people decide to choose when it comes to belief and leave it at that. If a kid raised Christian doesn't believe in the religion then that's okay. If an atheist finds faith later in life then that's okay too. We shouldn't be trying to prove who is more right when the answers are not clear to a single person alive anyway. Why waste time fighting? I'm sure Jesus would sooner wish to understand than to argue.

There are a ton of more interesting Christian religions besides the mainstream one (pushed by the states). Like Gnostic Christianity, the Ebionite Christianity, both closer to Jesus than this mainstream politically altered Pauline Christianity which contradicts Jesus himself..

There will always be those who use religion to gain power. Saying it's divine providence that they conquer, kill, and rape all in the name of "God". But that doesn't mean they speak the truth. God will have His vengeance on those who used his name in vain. Jesus taught to love our enemies like ourselves. So that means the inquisition and the crusades were people who abused religion to gain power. They were never of God.
