Sonic Colors Ultimate | Brighter Colors Than Ever Before

Apparently the in Canon reason Wisps are in other games (except lost world I guess) is that the Wisps were happy Sonic saved them and some of them just sorta followed Sonic home and since wisps are living things, they probably reproduce.

Just got the Wii version of this game today. I was going to buy it ages ago, but I chose to get Sonic Lost World on the Wii U instead. Really looking forward to playing it after watching your video.

Sonic Colors is the Mario Sunshine of Sonic games. It's not bad, but it's also the worst you can do while still not being bad (also both have a unique charm due to their setting/style that can't be mimic'd in other titles)

Another point against the Super Sonic unlockable that annoys me to no end is how in Colors (& Lost World) Super Sonic is basically useless since you have to collect every Red Ring to unlock him,and on you've done that, there's no reason to use him since because you can't use wisps it's seemingly impossible to get S Ranks with Super Sonic.
I think Ultimate should have added a form of New Game Plus mode where you can play through the game with Super Sonic already unlocked along with all of the cosmetics you previously unlocked & this mode would also be unlocked by collecting all the Red Rings)

Between this one and FORCE which one is better?

I know I’m months late to the party, but for the Switch version, it wasn’t a lighting issue. It was a fucking memory leak. PC version also had a memory leak at launch, where players would have their computers blue screen on them if there was a controller plugged in when the game launched.

I feel very sorry for anyone with the switch version that actually doesn't go online with their switch and can't download the patch...

The story was very good. The game was very hard and annoying for me, also I hated the key ring it's ugly, thank god that I didn't get it from the game when I buy it. 😅

Day one Sonic Colors Ultimate was um... Horrifically broken and it took weeks to patch most of the bugs

Having just gotten my hands on this game now... it's... fine... it's mostly been inoffensive. I think the loading times are slow for a modern console release that isn't handling some huge environment like Skyrim, and the "double jump" feels super weak, to the point where I have trouble determining where I'm gonna land. The screen is also too zoomed out, I feel, which doesn't help with the jumping issues I'm having. I also don't really like the voice acting. I dunno if the previous actors quit or what, but these new voices are just not good. Sonic is... ok... at times. The two robots are fine. Everyone else has been just... eurgh. It's also way too soft, even at max volume, and I turned the music and SFX down some too

Speaking of remasters of Wii games doing unnecessary touchups to an already great-looking (at least for a Wii--) game.

As for the wisps being in other games/ places ik the idw comics mentioned that some of them migrated to earth and lost hex following colors, yea ik the comics aren't the same canon in away but I like the explanation

how well does sonic control?

wanted to get it for ps5 but just got my nephews the switch version so decided to try it. never played before but he controls pretty bad even with patches. im guessing thats just how he is since modern sonic never moved well imo

The main reason I don’t really like colors that much is because it started a lot of issues I had with sonic in the meta era, like the wisps (in this game they’re fine), bad writing, and lack of super sonic (he wasn’t canon to the story). Also, colors had way to much 2d for a 3d sonic game imo, and I’m pretty sure most of the acts are just replaying parts of the first act. The game is still fun, but definitely not my first choice for a sonic game replay

I discovered Unleashed about a year after it was released and I fell in love INSTANTLY. I loved both styles equally. The God of War fighting style is fun no matter what the skin on it looks like. The only bad spot is that music that pops up every battle

Can someone who had prayed this on both playstatio and switch say if it controls better on the playstation?

Recently tried on switch and it's been long anougj thst most of the game breaking bugs are parched out...but sonic someone controls terribly. Easily the worst controlling sonic game I've ever played. Took me way longer than it should have just to will myself to finish the first world...he cant even make the most basic platforming jumps in 2d...which was the whole selling point

Ngl I LOVE Colors Ultimate. It is my favourite way to play Colors. I haven't experienced any bugs(probably because they have been patched by 2023) and I like the remixes more than the original tracks. This goes for ALL of the remixes

Only own the original wii release and play with the classic pro controller. This game is a blast! And yes.. the music.. SO original, so inspired! Really great sonic title.

Well here's my opinion. Just play the DS version. Surprisingly enough, it is the superior version. No annoying humor, fun gameplay, and the Nega Mother Wisp is a really important thing that is exclusive to the DS version.

Out if any sonic game I've seen this has to be the one I've gone back and forth on the most since I never owned a Wii as a kid and never got the chance to play this game back then, so when a port was announced for all consoles I was hyped, but years later I still don't own this game for the fact I don't want to support a game that barely even got support from its creators in the first place to ensure it had the time and quality control it needed

Well now that all the Colors Ultimate stuff has settled down, let's cautiously be optimistic for Generation's newly announced re-release. Hopefully it'll at least play somewhat nicer with more modern PCs than base Generations does currently.

I can tell how he's desperately trying not to tell people to just play it on dolphin instead and therefore advocate for piracy

there is one thing I love about SONIC COLORS storytelling and the entire meta era

I would've called this "Brighter and Buggier Than Ever" with the way the launched. How did they have MORE bugs than the Original Wii Version, I'll never know.

I actually bought sonic colors ultimate for one reason alone (well two bc it was on a sale) AND the project re-rainbow that in the works and soon to be finished so I thought I wouldn't waste my time and buy it asap P.S if sonic generations in the remaster won't get any new lighting someone should make a mod for that and hopefully Sega will add more levels to it

Sega has a really bad track record for ports and rereleases. They did the same thing with SA 1 & 2 didn't they. Let's hope Generations nails it without tons of patches.

No wonder that franchise never gets good games, looks like its fans are just happy with these subpar entries, plagued by poor game and level design.
There hasn't been a great Sonic game since Sonic 3, and I doubt there will ever be another one.

So i have an interesting comment I'd like to address because i don't think anyone really noticed this, hell i only noticed this doing some quick practice for sonic x shadow generations...
someone at Microsoft worked their *ss off to fix colors ultimate for the series x. It ain't perfect the cutscenes are still the wii version and the menu for customization is still janky and laggy,
But the loading times between stages, the graphical seizure bugs have been removed from 2d to 3d, the egg shuttle no longer crashes switching between zones, i want to know who worked so damn hard to fix this game, because I sure as hell can't find em.
It ain't blind squirrel, it definitely isn't sega or sonic team their hands would have been tied down with frontiers. My only guess was it had to be again someone at Microsoft when applying the series x qols, but I can't find a name
