I'm going to try chicken waste for the soil
ОтветитьIn Kenya the weather's really not extreme
ОтветитьYeah, I tried that "plant in November" and I ordered 1015 onions from Dixondale too. Trouble was that in the last week of December we had a polar vortex and the temp went to 3 degrees and stayed below freezing for 5 days. I covered the onions with plastic but it didn't help. Lost every damn one of them. So much for November planting. I replanted in early February and so far the onions are all alive. And I live in zone 7B.
ОтветитьI watched this video 3 yrs ago. I just got thru watching a video about growing big onions. Interesting how the other fellow says plenty of Nitrogen early and you say Phosphorus and Potassium. I see these things a lot on video's on growing veggies. Two opposite ways to grow and good results both ways.
ОтветитьThank you
That was thorough and helpful ! 😊
Can they be grown in a bucket? Like a hamper lined with weed block?
Ответитьwe are growing onions from seed this year, exciting stuff. I cant wait to see if they are bigger than the sets tht i have also grown.
ОтветитьHey Hoss Boss, my wife says to cut the tops off the onions, which will make the bulbs grow bigger. Myth or miracle? Thanx.
ОтветитьIn the Appalachians in North Carolina we cannot plant in November or northern Georgia, but if you're at sea level, sure.
ОтветитьIs it good to grow onion in rain season and can i control my onion?
ОтветитьMy onions got really "bushy" and was worried. I didn't know that each leaf is a ring. Thank you.
ОтветитьWell you could buy onion sets that will grow into large onions! This would seem like the easy way to go to me.
ОтветитьQUESTIONS: #1 Do you ring your onions? #2 What does ringing the onions mean? #3 How many inches of water do onions need per week?
Ответить😢 , fertilizers? Plenty of fertilizers?
ОтветитьI read elsewhere that onions that get sulfur have more of a "bite" in their flavor... But you don't mention using sulfur. Is that an oversight? Or deliberate? If so, what rationale?
ОтветитьThank u
ОтветитьI enjoyed this video until you showed the fertilizer.😓
ОтветитьWhat time to plant onion in Houston Texas cause it get very hot here.
ОтветитьYou explain things so well, thank you! I failed at my onions last year but hey you learn as you grow.
Ответитьthanks so much
ОтветитьI just love onions. 😋
ОтветитьNice hopefully can grow onions this fall
ОтветитьNice video. I just purchased my onion from you and this will be my first time growing onions. Im growing red and Texas sweet. Im also growing carrots among the onions which i hear is a good companion?
So i want to grow over winter broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, and collards. I live in north Florida short season. Was wondering which variety you sell do you think would be best to grow for the beginner gardener? I want to buy from you this week to get them started in August for late September planting.
Thanks...Ed
You are saying what I always think when I hear some of the videos, then of people following them and going off same method, not knowing if it works in their zone or climate.
So funny.
THANKS!!!!!!!!!!
ОтветитьSimple advice, well presented. Thankyou -- Liked your ideas with the drip tape and fertilizing.
Its always been tough here growing onions. Frost danger not past until april or may. And pretty cool anyway.
We'll keep trying - and keep learning.
I have containerized Spanish onions and my stepson walked up and rip a leaf off and started eating it in front of me. I love that boy but sometimes he's an idiot.
Ответить😢Lucky I iv will grow today😅
ОтветитьWhen do you stop giving them the nitrogen and switch to the bulbing stage fertilizer, and what fertilizer do you use when the onion bulb is growing?
ОтветитьAwsome video
ОтветитьI ordered from dixondale farm and they suggested January for my zone. Central Florida. I just received them a few days ago and I planted today. Does that mean I’m not going to do good with my onions.? Ordered short day onions 🧅 I’m sad just watching this knowing I might have messed up on my planting date, based on their recommendation for my Zone
ОтветитьHalf my onions split underneath ? To much water?
ОтветитьI planted some scallions in the garden bed two years ago, I harvested most of the leaves when they were about 10 inches tall, they started growing back, I let them grow all year last year, and now they are about 2 feet tall and as big around as a broom handle. I think I'll let them keep going to see how big they get
ОтветитьWhat kind of siphoning unit do you use to get fertilize into your drip irrigation?
ОтветитьIn California its going to be illegal to grow food in our backyard we have to buy it from the supermarket
ОтветитьI'm watching from Botswana Africa
Ответить?What about wild onions that came up last month in my compost. I've never planted onions. I pulled one up and it has a small round yellow bulb. Are they any good?
Ответить👍👍👍👍👍
ОтветитьNahsc?
ОтветитьNot exactly true the misinformation is killing me the leaves are supplying food to the bulb so by cutting the foliage back you are reducing the food source and will end up with smaller , not always larger bulbs. The plants energies will go into producing more leaf, rather than root y'all gotta stop believing everything a person say
ОтветитьGreat info. Only one suggestion. Lose the sunglasses or just focus on the topic for the majority of the video. There really is no need to focus on the speaker.
ОтветитьWater lots of water
ОтветитьThank you for the great video!
ОтветитьHey, how deep of a container for onions and leeks? I have Alison Craig (the big one) as well as smaller red onions. I also have leeks, which I wish to place in containers as well. Both the onions and leeks are currently in small pots ready to be transplanted. I live on the west coast of Canada.
ОтветитьI live in the western part of nc. When would I harvest onions planted in Nov. thanks

ОтветитьThis is where you learn the Science of Market Gardening. Straight to the point, jamb packed with info Thanks Hoss
