When untrained in a skill/weapon/other proficiency, the proficiency modifier is just 0 and not 0 plus level. This mean that a high level untrained PC will not be better at stealthiness than a low level expert PC
ОтветитьMy dnd 5e group is thanking about switching to pathfinder 2e because of how wotc is doing things. Thank you for this video
ОтветитьAside from the 3 actions per round I see nothing that wouldn't just be simpler, Easier to understand, or more fun that pathfinder 1e (aside from a new class like alchemist but 1e has so many more hybrid and unique and 3rd party content classes)
Ответить"If any of this doesn't make sense just talk to your DM and promise that they will be happy to help you."
No offense, but if I had someone to help me do you think I would be watching this video? Learning a new game system is always like home work and videos like these help me cram before the test which is session zero.
Great and informative, thanks for making reference to similar rules from other games. Helped me wrap my head around 2e rules. Thanks!
Ответитьwhy do you move towards the thing that killed you after dropping to zero hit points exactly?
ОтветитьHow could you possibly have a critical success on a recovery check if it’s a flat d20 and the dc is 10+dying level when a crit needs to succeed by 10?
ОтветитьI really do enjoy the diversity of player characters that Pathfinder brings, because in d&d if you didn't expect in the charisma when you made your character you're not going to be good at it by the time you're done with the entire campaign. There's no character growth in d&d, only cooler abilities.
ОтветитьWell 4 years later and already a new set of books
ОтветитьI’m trying to understand why people would want to play a ttrpg that’s more complex than say dnd 5e. I’m a bit biased since I enjoy dnd 5e and hated every second of pathfinder 1e. Everything felt unnecessarily complicated where it didn’t need to be. Anyone else having issues with this? My dnd group wants to try pathfinder 2e but I’m leery since it wasn’t a good experience with the 1e.
ОтветитьThank you
ОтветитьYou can't move - attack- move. Movement cannot be broken up AFAIK.
ОтветитьI like this format for the vid. Simple, educational, clarity
ОтветитьWith weapons I think I would rather the ac go down than attack roll
ОтветитьThis video was fantastic thank you!!!!!
ОтветитьNow I just need to find a group.
Ответить25 minutes for a quick start basics tells me pathfinder 2e is less fun than 1e already.
ОтветитьSo if i play AD&D 2nd Edition, playing Pathfinder 2nd Edition would be completely confusing to me?
Ответить5e way better
ОтветитьI almost stopped at “BEST-iary.” 😅😅
Ответитьdamn bru, so cool 💀
ОтветитьFuck WotC.
Paizo rules the scene!
I'll never understand why fantasy games make strength obsolete in regards to bows. I can see the argument that a arrow is going to do an arrow's damage but a massively strong person using a bow that only they can draw due to their strength would be able to shoot said arrow farther and with more punch.
ОтветитьMost of my play group have played DnD since the Red box around 1980, we detest 5e. I came because I heard PF2e was similar to DnD 4e which we love and still play. This for sure is not 4e, but it has borrowed a lot from it. This looks much better than 5e.
ОтветитьThere were so many things in DnD 5e where I was like "why is it like this instead of like this?" Half-Elves and Half-Orcs being separate races instead of having rules for mixing heritage, HP being determined solely by class rather than race, races not seeming to have any inherit weaknesses to balance their inherent strengths, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that Pathfinder actually had it that way for everything except the mixing ancestry rules (though props for making Half-Elf and Half-Orc heritages so that they can be used by other races besides human.
That said, I was disappointed by the rulebooks only giving a single set of name ideas for each race in comparison to 5e which gave male names, female names, and surnames. And that height and weight have no role in the game, so as far as we know Dwarves and elves could be the same height and weight because they're both medium sized.
Newer to the ttrpg grind and me and my group usually use the dnd rulebooks but I’m interested in switching over now that I’m hearing about WotC and all of that; thanks for the video! It’s really helpful 🫡
ОтветитьAnyone here because of the whole Pinkerton business?
ОтветитьAdmittedly DnD 5e is my comfort zone, though a lot of my friends also play PF2e and I'd really enjoy playing a game with them sometime. This helped get my head around a lot of the rules!
ОтветитьThis is very informative information, and well done. Thank you for taking time to explain some of the basica
ОтветитьThe way I have no intention of ever playing pathfinder but I refuse to not be an expert on the rules of it.
ОтветитьJust got invited to sit in as a guest player for a month. Been a 5e DM for a few years. Thank you for breaking things down clear and succinctly. Pathfinder has my attention.
ОтветитьOnly one question: is PF woke like 5e? I hate the interjection of leftist politics in a game.
ОтветитьKinda bummer you can crit fail a dying check but not crit succeed.
ОтветитьI just got into DnD not even a full year ago, and my friend wants to do a Pathfinder one-off, so here I am trying to figure this out
ОтветитьSitting down for my first Pathfinder 2e campaign this afternoon. Thanks for the primer!
ОтветитьUsing a shield is an active action? OK that's stupid beyond reason I'm definitely going to just make my own system. Yeah I could see you doing an active Action with a shield.. With off hand.. And I can see some Shields that would require only being able to use as an active like a Buckler but a wall shield Is physically there you hide behind it it's cover.
ОтветитьOK I already hate this. It's a race not an ancestry elves are race orcs are a race dwarbs are race.
Ответить✋
ОтветитьSo if i have a high level character, for example +5 to hit does that mean whenever i am attacking it will most likely be 10+. Does that mean i always crit with my character 🤔
ОтветитьThanks for the quick summary!
ОтветитьHi there, I've never played any RP tabletop but I'd really like to do so as I have been a fantasy nerd all my life. However I really don't know how to start nor have a group of friends to do it with. Any tips?
ОтветитьFrom a 5e player trying Pathfinder 2e, thanks for the synopsis!
ОтветитьWhoever made Pathfinder must really like tiny people. Two thirds of the playable races are like 3 foot tall or less
ОтветитьOut one ear and out the other, it's like math class.
ОтветитьI bet this is getting a bump of extra views these days! Lol.
ОтветитьWe all know why we are here in January 2023
ОтветитьSo that's why they call it mathfinder
ОтветитьWell this just got more relevant for today's gaming needs
ОтветитьHello, looking at porting my 5e game to Pathfinder 2 because of current goings on with OGL and WOTC being greasy. What do you think is the most important things i should know?
ОтветитьThanks for this guide, Cody! With all of the OGL changes coming from the Wizard in his tower on the shore, I'm moving my games to PF2E. This gave a nice primer for moving.
