No unity so weak

As a Kazakh, I can only speak from the perspective of Kazakhstan: First, due to natural conditions, the entire country is landlocked and has no trade ports leading to the high seas; second, the deep-rooted dictatorship and lack of respect for human rights and the complete monopoly of the economy by the government elite have led to a very poor standard of living for ordinary people, resulting in the fact that the people have no money to consume and cannot drive the development of local industry; third, due to national traditions, we Kazakhs are relatively lazy, and are prone to give up pursuing our dreams and like to live a comfortable life... even if we live in poverty, it doesn't matter.

Uzbek here. Excellent video, which largely hits the nail on why the region is so underdeveloped. Yet, let me point out some of the positive aspects of the region people miss out (and due to my county of origin, you can correctly expect that I will primarily talk about Uzbekistan, sorry fellow Central Asians):

1. Some regions of Central Asia, such as Bukhara, retained their centuries-old academic culture and even enhanced it during the Soviet era. Currently, this results in Uzbekistan being among the top 5 countries exporting their students to study abroad. Additionally, in Uzbekistan there is a nation-wide culture of learning English, because for every citizen it is given that this is the key to prosperity.

2. Though governments, as you pointed out, are extremely corrupt and oligarchs syphon as much wealth as they can, I have a positive hope that students studying overseas, after coming back, will create the new wave of Jadid movement and modernize the region.

3. Due to deeply engrained role of a large family in Central Asia, the fertility rate stays above the replacement rate (though, as mentioned in the video, poor urbanization also plays a role). I have a positive feeling about it as well, since reginal instability might cause an uprising which will install a democratic government.

This is terrible and contains significant (and even basic) errors. Tajiks are not Turkic. Persian culture is undoubtedly the most significant cultural legacy. The part on Afghanistan's failure, including the idea that the Afghan Government was anti-Pashtun is simply false. Every Afghan president elected under US occupation was Pashtun. It's great that you have an interest in the region. Maybe read a book or two (or re-read them) before creating a video. This is junk.
