Should be separate categories for ai and non ai , I doubt he could compete with a regular digital artist if he didn’t have ai

Really disingenious of the "artist" to illustrate an image of him spending 800 hours coming up with the final result. The AI they used is called Midjourney AI, I paid for it 2 months ago to give it a try. While it is very interesting to play with, all you are doing is typing prompts into it and then rearranging or tweaking your words, clicking variation results to push it further, or redoing the generation altogether. If they took that AI result and painted it over, it would've been a different story, there's lots of artists already using this to paint over the final results and push it further. But all they did was pay $10-$30 for the month, type some words, probably spent a few hours clicking a button to regenerate it, and then called it a day.

The dude took about 800 hours to get the piece he submitted, he did try there was effort, there was skill. The AI didn't do everything

He has no skill as an actual artist.

This guys not an artist. I was in that category I could’ve done the same thing. But I’m not a fake. The fact that he sits and takes credit away from REAL artist is just an insult towards The artists who have dedicate their lives to the arts.

Make it a seperare category. There's no way a digital artist can compete with the work of a computer and a vision. AI was a tool yeah, but anyone with common sense knows its going to do most the work lol

There are people who say AI art isn’t real art and there are some people who don’t understand what art is and they’re the same people. I’ve looked at AI art and felt emotionally moved by it quod erat demonstrandum: AI art IS art whether you like it or not. 😊

He spent a lot of time and effort to get it to look that good. He directed the AI by prompts and he wanted it to look a certain way. It's an amazingly beautiful piece.

All the more reason to avoid art competitions as a whole. First major companies scam artists from their submissions.....now people like this guy are appearing.

Different with music, physical music instrument vs digital music instrument. People still need to learn chords, beats and many more.
In art illustration community, using AI is simple af. Even 4 years old can be artist(if you consider AI is an artist which is lame). Just typing and typing, no need to learn colour theory, perspective and so on.

Hold up, no, there is a DIFFERENCE. A paintbrush, you actually can stroke, dip and shade. AI, all you do is sit your lazy ass down and type in words. Now, which one is more work? Gee, I wonder.....exactly, fuck you. Call yourself an author for letting AI write a terrible story, call yourself a chef if you work at McDonalds....it takes time to craft your skills. If you can't do it, you don't earn it.

If I am an art editor at a magazine and my artists give me submissions, then I tell them to make changes, once those changes are made I do not get to claim the art as my own. This doesn't change no matter how many adjustments are made or how long it takes. That art was created by Midjourney and edited by him. He is not the artist.

If you check art books for scifi works you'll see pieces like this.
You're all forgetting one crucial fact about the AI art you worship

It only gets these pieces by coping from a variety of other artworks on the Internet. If humans were to cease creating art, there would be no more references to go by so AI would stay creating the same repetitive results over and over again until a new piece of artwork shows up. AI art was a good tool when you are an artist and you have an idea, you draw it and feel something missing so you tweak it to find a missing piece but humans do not look at someone's art copy the art style and then change the hair bc when we do that, it results in a mass amount of ppl calling you a tracer or copier smh
