I don't know about you guys, but I love this sound. It's thematic parallel would be something akin to light fantasy with hints of euphoria as opposed to the "dark fantasy with elements of slightly foreboding mystery" sentiment present in their earlier works.

Some people seem to be a little disappointed in the sound of this song, but I must say it's one of my favorites from this album. The sounds and melodies plus Jonas' incredible lyrics combine to give that beautiful knee-weakening feeling. My heart aches and sings at the same time when I listen to this. To me, Mew does this in a way unlike any other band I've ever heard, and always with their unique, identifiably-Mew sound. Carry Me To Safety has that effect that just pierces you, similar to how I feel after listening to songs like Comforting Sounds, Cartoons & Macramé Wounds, and Rows.

Was SO glad to see Mew play live in Minneapolis a few years ago. My fave band by far!! Love this song!! 💔

I gotta say.... this album kinda dissapointed me. I was expecting something more complex. As the previous couple of albums. Most of the songs feels the same. There is not much variety. After a couple of listens, this is the only song I can stand out.

This song is a flop compared to their previous ones. How could they go from defeating apocalypse "We may not die, our days are multiplied and I am happy again" in their older song, now to "Carry me to safety, I can run no longer" ?? It's a HUGE anticlimax. I know musicians are human beings and can't always write uplifting songs, but this is complete an utter disappointment. The melody is super flat, and I can't imagine dancing to this. Normally, Mew's songs have a dance factor; the lead guitars are catchy, the drummer is never tired, and the singer is always energetic. I'm sorry, Mew. I'm not happy with this song 😔

Does anybody have an example of a pop song with more key changes per time unit than this one? It really contributes to the dreamy feel which is so typical mew. My favorite of the album and one of my favorite Mew songs altogether!

YES (!!), Neil Young with Buffalo Springfield (and whose beauty and power never grow old), Flaming Lips (whose ideas are spoken profoundly), and Radiohead (who take me inside and outside my sense of living in time and space). I feel cocooned by human living feeling, with this lovely song, as a lonely creature looking for spiritual reference. Carry me and I carry you.
