It would be cool to see some pictures or even video of that place in it's heyday. Pretty awesome spot. Thanks for posting!
ОтветитьWanted to pack up and head up to that place. That beach was calling for me to put my boat in there and fish to my hearts content without another soul around for miles. Beautiful spot.
ОтветитьLooks like it was quite the operation back in the day, thanks on sharing
ОтветитьThanQ for filming
ОтветитьSpots like this are amazing. You can just picture how it would have looked, probably a beautiful spot in it's heyday! Thanks for sharing this one Rob!!
ОтветитьWow that first cabin was gorgeous! Would to have loved to seen it while lived in.
The one room cabin was for staff I bet. It looked exactly like the staff cabin I occupied at a Resort. Only we had 3 staffers in each cabin.
Neat! Was there any indication on the output of those generators? I wonder if the third one you looked in on was the primary set since it was a little bit more worse for wear? Cool spot.
ОтветитьBeautiful looking lake. What lake would that be?
ОтветитьWould be a great place to own,and hide out!!
ОтветитьI've watched a couple of your vids today and I've just subscribed. Keep up the good work 👍
ОтветитьQuite the operation ! Must have been really nice back in its hayday !! Thanks for sharing.👍👍👍
ОтветитьThanks for sharing Robert
ОтветитьI enjoyed that. Thanks😁
ОтветитьThank you for the visit. Wouldn't it be great to be able to walk those grounds with a past employee and hear the stories that must have happened there. Thank you for keeping the location secret, to many abandoned places just become weekend party spots and history is lost.
ОтветитьAwww. Chicken! That intact generator is like the pieces you found in the bush. Cushman built in Nebraska.

“This will be our last trip to (lake). All this week we have been packing up the house. I can’t believe that we will never come back here. In the morning we will take the hook out of the ceiling where the kids’ baby swing used the hang. We agreed that that would be the last thing we did before leaving forever. . It feels like a funeral for a loved one. I wonder if the hurt will ever go away.” (A diary entry of one of the owner/builder/homesteaders) The story of this resort is inspiring and heartbreaking. The story of lead poisoning of the White Dog/GrassyNarrows/English River is inhumane.
A great video of an amazing place! I did some research and came across the heartbreaking story of why this lodge was abandoned. Looking forward to watch part 2! Best regards to Thunder Bay...I really miss that place and my family there!
ОтветитьIf they would have used tin roofs that place would be awesome yet! Thanks for sharing!
ОтветитьGood stuff !!! Watching from the Philippines!!!
ОтветитьWhat’s it cost for a hunting cabin or small home on a small lot near a town in that area ?
ОтветитьWow that place is amazing I would love to go fishing there
ОтветитьAnyone find any pictures of “back in the day”? Any knowledge as to why it closed? Is the property for sale?
ОтветитьSome of these lodges closed due to pollution of the lake, very sad
ОтветитьAs an architect I am seeing a treasure trove of salvageable "rustic" building materials. So cool, thanks for sharing. It would be really interesting to know how much power those generators created. It looks like you could run a small city.
ОтветитьAwesome video be safe out there
ОтветитьSomething beyond resort was going on there to require that much power. The resorts from the 40s and 50s that I was taken to as a child had much smaller generator houses and a pump house for water. That is a lot of juice for the cabins we are seeing.
ОтветитьJust found this video that was an amazing place and as a guy that is into antique engines it sickens me to see them fairbanks generators just setting there not running the way the exhaust is set up it should have kept the water out of the cylinders and even though they have set a long time i bet it wouldnt be too much work to get them going again i would love to own them and make them run again hopefully someone near there will save them before they are too far gone and hopefully no one goes and destroys anything on them
ОтветитьSo sad to see so many old fishing and hunting resorts abandoned and rotting. Some call this progress. I do not. Great video and explore. Appreciate it.
