A small Staffodshire town on the edge of one of the most precious areas of beautiful countryside in Britain. Cannock founded on the rich deposits of coal once extensively mined locally, had a close and proud sense of community. This was manifest during celebrations commemorating the Queen's Silver Jubilee, July 1977. The highlight was a visit by Price Charles, the town looked stunning with all the bunting and almost every shop taking part in a colourful best dressed floral window display competition. Following the royal visit there were marching brass bands and dance troops, a carnival of vintage and steam vehicles, a parade of floral floats and a funfair.
For the small Staffordshire town this must have been its finest hour! An absolute credit to the organizers in particular Mr. R. Dyer.
