Project Zomboid: 16 Horde Management Tips

My advice is to use only fire arms or long blunt melee (shovel is my favorite) because only these will give you "safe" distance between you and dead.

If you are trying to kill a zombie horde the key is just divide it into smaller groups and killing them slowly. Preferly in pairs.

Honestly just spacial awareness and not doing anything panicky is key. I clear small hordes with melee, pull out a shotgun if there are too many. The most important is to watch your stamina, since you can easily disengage with sneak running if needed, but don't keep swinging past moderate exhaustion. Try kiting around hordes to deal with stragglers in the back or the few that tend to be separate at the front

Not very useful since I literally only have hordes in this game seriously like 6 random zombies then I turn a corner 500 zombies look at me and walking dead my ass into a building eventually after they surround me then they clap my cheeks.

Here's my number 1 go to tip:
FECKING RUN

I have currently survived 6 months and killed 4400 zombies without firearms or cars. The best weapons are: push, then knife, then foot. Axe is pretty bad, I was pro with an axe prior but gave it up as it tends to produce crawlers, who are sudden and dangerous, it makes you also overconfident, it drains lots of energy for swing - and it near useless without breath, it also slows you down. How to destroy horde - with knife and hands, thats how.
Easy: Regardless of horde size - try to find a loner - fastest running or slowest, doesnt matter. Then stab him, if he is secure distance from others (3-4 full seconds). One by one, they all go down. If there are several loners in group, hold Ctrl while walking back, pushing few back. This strips the group into loners. You can also kick those on the ground faster, by holding space and clicking inside empty area of your inventory.

So, I'm a MAJOR coward in zombie games. In order to get over that fear a bit and play that awesome game, I made several small runs with no intents other than to 'get used fighting zombies'. It helped a lot, and soon enough I was less terrified of them, and then able to fight them head-on with relative ease, even in build 41.


Then came the time for my first 'actual playthrough'. You know the one. The one where you will last as long as possible, where you will build a base or three and secure them, loot everything, learn how to do everything and be the badassest badass survivor that ever badassed.


Things went well, until I found a police car with a shotgun and 24 shots, surrounded by dozens of zeds.


At that point, I decided my 'actual playthrough' could wait another time. I killed a few with one shot, drawing like everyone and their zombified mother to me. I emptied all the shots into them and killed a couple dozens more with my katana, finally getting eaten in the end.


REMEMBER TIP 16, people. It's the most important one. Gods that was fun.

Carry molotovs and use them to burn the horde to death.

15 overconfidence is a slowly and insidious death

Nowadays it's much easier, u take a car with sirens, u turn them on, wait a while so a lot of zombies will come to u and thne you just slowly drive off with the zombies behind you.

Instructions unclear. They have accepted me as their leader. I am now Lord of Undead.

Any tips on losing the horde? I'm all well and good leading them far away, but when it comes to trying to lose them in the woods, I tend to get caught up with a pack of them jumping me behind some trees.
