The Kentrosaurus has two things going for it. To start with, it has a secondary biting attack, so it isn't as affected by the Stegosaurus' knockback as the Stego is it. Lastly, you receive damage whenever you attack a Kentrosaurus, so for every hit from the Stego, that Stego is taking return damage. So, yeah, it may be 2x bigger, but it's a super basic dinosaur in comparison. The Kentrosaurus was designed for defensive and offensive purposes, while the Stegosaurus was designed to be more of a starter mount that provides transport, utility, and slight protection with its knockback. The Kentro is the true fighter amongst them, though.

In real life those "spiky" herbivores had a really good chance at the Rex in fight. The ankylo could break a trex bone in only one swing
