Frankly, this video doesn't really tell you much about anything.

Why isn't the Florida panhandle not a part of Alabama? Mostly because of Pensacola. When the US gained possession of Florida in 1821 the Federal government offered the portion of Florida that was west of the Apalachicola River for annexation by Alabama; this area contained the city of Pensacola, then the second largest town in the new Florida Territory. The relatively nearby town of Mobile, then the largest town in Alabama, was not keen about sharing political power with a still culturally Spanish influenced town of almost the same size, and about 60 miles away. Therefore, the Mobile delegation in the Alabama legislature persuaded the state of Alabama to reject the proposed acquisition.
