Air Force Reserve - Pros and Cons

The last con isn't a con, it's apart of your obligation as a soldier. You joined the military to serve for your nation.

I have a buddy who is in the police academy with me who just finished serving 2-years in the air force and is also in the reserves, this kid is only 20yrs old. He will have 2 Pensions once he's done. He gets law enforcement and Military Benefits. This kid is on the right track for his life.

I am 17 and seeing all these people excited about going into reserves is beautiful, it’s never to late to do what your heart wants and to just say NO to whatever excuse for the circumstances and say YES to what you want

As a RN can you work at civilian hospital and still work for Air force reserves?

Question: if I have a BA in psychology could I go for the occupational or physical therapy schooling that they provide?

Does your civilian job still pay you while your on reserve duty?

If you are called to active duty as a reservist, I've heard that one might qualify for more reimbursement for tuition than a reservist that hasn't served active duty; I'm curious as to whether this differs among branches. I've been trying to read up articles on this. Do you have a video on this topic?

What is the difference between the reserve and the national guard? Is there such a thing as full time reserve/guard? Will it be like active duty but no deployment?

I recommend doing active first so than you can have all your benefits first, than go reserves after

IMA is the way to go. Attached to an AD unit.. so therefore you can work any day, instead of weekends only

Awesome breakdown in the video fam, quick question. As a reservist are you going to be potentially frowned upon if you don't attend any college courses while in the Air Force? I know that that can happen if you're active duty, where the Air Force will try to nudge you into going to college so that you can bring that education back and make the Air Force look better. But just wondering how does that work with reservist.

Don’t forget the Air National Guard. Virtually the same pay and benefits. If you put in 4 or more years AD you could use Air Guard to finish with 20 years or more for a pension and retirement benefits. While in the Reserve or Air Guard you can pursue a civilian career.

Currently a civilian, thinking bout you straight to reserves and not doing AD, but I wonder if I could eventually go to IMA after being in the reserves for a while or would I have to have been active duty? And could I cross train to a new afsc to do IMA?
