its not nuclear fear, its nuclear WASTE, which is the problem. It can easily be used for nuclear bombs and is super radiactive for the rest of our lives. We cant easily dig a cave and put it all in because if an earthquake or something else would crack these caves and the waste would run into our ground water we are fucked. And its not like there was a nuclear accident in ukraine or in fukushima, noooooo

Another reason people view nuclear reactors as dangerous could also MAYBE be because of Chernobyl 👀

Anyone here looking for good stocks to buy based on the nuclear news? I've done the hard work for you. (Still, DYOR)

🏭NuScale Power develops modular light water reactor nuclear power plants and its stock has soared nearly 100% over the past month.
🏭Vista is the best performer in the S&P 500 in 2024, beating out other AI names including NVIDIA Corp. which was the best performer in 2023.

Here are stocks for companies building reactors:
🏭Oklo, Inc.  develops fast fission power plants to provide nuclear energy at scale and counts OpenAI's Sam Altman as the chairman of its board of directors. The stock has gained more than 190% over the past month as the nuclear trade takes off.
🏭NuScale Power Corp  develops modular light water reactor nuclear power plants and its stock has soared nearly 100% over the past month.
🏭Nano Nuclear Energy, Inc. is a developer of portable, on-demand capable, and advanced nuclear microreactors. Nano Nuclear Energy stock is up 85% over the past month.

If you want to get closer to the source - uranium stocks
🏭Cameco Corporation is a uranium producer with several projects including Millennium, Yeelirrie, Kintyre and Exploration. Cameco shares are up nearly 45% over the past month.
🏭Centrus Energy Corp.  supplies enriched uranium fuel for commercial nuclear power plants in the U.S. and internationally. Centrus Energy stock gained 21% on Friday after the Department of Energy awarded the company a contract aimed at expanding its domestic commercial production.

Isn't the Nuclear Power Plant plan from all these tech companies just vertical integration? I agree that the investments in the tech is great, like from Google, but Microsoft straight up buying a plant and using the energy for their dataservers sounds like vertical integration.

As a nuclear engineer who missed the VOD atrioc did an alright job but missed some key points.

Many SMR designs have been in the works before the AI tech boom, the military has been pushing for the SMR design as an alternative to desiel generators for a while now.

2) Their are 2 perceived issues with nuclear energy in the U.S Safety and Waste. Saftey is largely based on misconceptions but Waste is a real issue that the US does not have for a bunch of reasons.

3) The biggest hurdle to all of this are the regulations. Because the US has not commissioned a new reactor in decades the process to get a new novel reactor design just approved before anything is built will take a decade with the way the NRC is set up.

4) As more of a cautionary tale, NuScale was a small startup trying to desing a SMR. It was seen as one of the leading SMR designs as they were the furthest along in the regulator process and probably would have been first to market. However, last year the company imploded as investors pulled out and the funding dried up.

5) nuclear has traditionally been a base load power producer and cant follow demand. All this means is that it needs to be sublemented by something else and renewables are generally great at this.

To clarify nuclear is way better than alot of energy sources but their are real limitations and more than anything political and economic issues that need to be overcome before it makes a true renaissance.

Great video though.

I work next to a Spirit Halloween. Learned a bit about them... they classify their job positions as seasonal, so their workers get low pay and no benefits (discount-types aside).
They produce an INSANE amount of garbage, both via products and via production/running their stores, and barely recycle in general.
Their employees are generally desperate for work or do it part-time during school, and pretty much none of them actually enjoy it.
They have insane turnover, and cause problems for the businesses around them each year due to having mostly all new management each time.

Hoping that, as they grow (since they're on the rise) enough social pressure will hit them to force them to stop treating their employees and the environment like trash.

Last minute Christmas shopping? They got you.
Need to buy stuff for your Valentine? They got you.
Christmas trees galore in winter.
Need beach chairs or pool inflatables for your summer swimming? They got you.
I was so confused lol.

So stupid. Nuclear is awesome but it doesn't make money. THE SECOND it becomes profitable, they start building them. But not for everyone. Just big corps.

Also we need to start moving federal obligations to State governments. It's too impossible for a federal government to handle so many things for so many states.

There are some rather serious national security implications with China trying to tax forign land their rich citizens own too as for the last couple decades Chinese people & businesses have been specifically buying land all around military bases, this has rather serious implications given the CCP's increasing control & how they have an agent in every business over a certin size.

To be clear, pretty much no data centers of any considerable size look anything like the pictures you see of pretty server cabinets with cool green/blue lighting.

They are just big brightly lit warehouses that are pretty consistently messy looking from the volume of network cables that have to be run and replaced with relative frequency.

I’ve had so many people when I ask why they don’t like nuclear energy just say Chernobyl as if we are still on the same level as crumbling Soviet Union in their safety measures and levels of science my job can almost daily it is the safest energy source we have because we know so much about it and how predictable it is like how it takes just a small a shape to stop it from leaking because radiation can only travel in straight lines
