Hear me out here. Warhammer smash bros game.

40K is good because it's a more honest look at humanity than most people want to admit. The fact is that we're all tribal by nature and the traits exhibited by the followers of the chaos gods are problems we deal with every day.

Tyranid game idea is super easy; Styx styled stealth game where youre playing as Deathleaper

Or a game like Factorio, but you are a Norn Queen

Or a FPS game where youre a Kellermorph, and the Tyranids are allies.

It is literally a franchise build backwards.

Wow…that comparison by PatStareat with Star Wars and how bad things can get when they allow the franchise to be pulled and picked and plucked by anyone hit home. Would rather the GW stinginess over the Walmartification of the Star Wars franchise. Emperor Protect.

I got into 40k via BOLTGUN - though I'm old enough to remember when it first came out in the late 80s. I essentially ignored it because it looked
1. Expensive
2. Complex
3. Mech-ish
BOLTGUN taught me that it's actually closer to my jam niche of science fantasy jacked up on death metal gore. While the actual game is still far too expensive, I like the video games and have been really loving the books (Emperor's Children stan). Now I'm pretty invested!

got into 40k from school, a mate had orcs, and he show me pictures of 4 diffrent factions, kinda converted me, then i saw the dawn of war 1 game. :)

Somebody should buy the Mass Effect IP, and develop the world, including a tabletop based on the Reaper war.

The best way to get into the tabletop game, I think, is through the 40k Tabletop Simulator community. Sure, there's a non-zero chance GW will eat your babies for doing it, but it's a way to play the tabletop game without having to fork over thousands of dollars in minis and paints, and it has a very active community that can help you learn the rules and understand the game quickly.

I own a 3d printer that matches GW quality.

Fighting game: all base units. Maybe a tier system, just spitballing. BUT each character is generic and the color pallates are cusomizable, maybe not to the n'th degree, but with earnable cosmetics. Wolf tail talasmans, capes.

absolutely untrue that 3d printing isn't as good if not better than gw for detail now. Gw plastic is a better material to work with, and getting into printing is easy, but requires effort. So model sales aren't truly in trouble until resin printing becomes simpler, but tones of people are choosing a 600$ printing setup over 1.5K$ for a single army.

I think on the topic of cadia, the flork comic about the Tyranid dating gqme show is the best thing ive ever seen about it.

TvC Warhammer fighting game would be VERY FUNNY and VERY FUN

Here me out, 3rd-person shooter, Cyberpunk 2077-esque Commoraugh roleplay OR Helldivers 2-styled mission co-op of raiding planets for slaves and such.

What got me into warhammer is one of my favorite ttrpg streamer groups playing rogue trader. I loved the mechanicus character the most, saw their figures, and was sold on warhammer.

Pat's right about the other non imperium factions needing to have more than a participation cupcake to bring people into the setting. Without the T'au and the Necorns (and the skaven of fantasy) I would not have gotten into warhammer more broadly.

Warhammer Adventures is off the walls wild and while the kids don't all die they sure wish they did by the end of the series. It's worth a few book clubs. Them going over just the Nurgle book would absolutely make my month. :)

Shadow Of The Horned Rat, is as far as I can tell from many reviews a game with amazing depth so I'm not sure why pat hated it? System performance? Layout? Lack of transparency?

I think you could make a game for the Tyranids like the game Warpips! Imagine a tug of war wave/horde strategy game where you control a hive fleet and you have to go on a campaign of using different bioforms to overcome the different planets you're tasked with devouring!

If you want to give people an easy route to get into the table top, make an in depth episode of deathwatch. Because controlling a huge army and painting all of them is a bit much, but with death watch you can focus on just one or a few dudes to paint and create a backstory for.
