Nonsensical lyrics. Guitars played in unison is interesting, though.
ОтветитьI learned to play the guitar at 5 years old. And my dad was a police man. He would take me down to the police station and I would do little concerts for them. I did this song and 2 or 3 others. I remember singing Hang down your head Tom Dooley, and Long Tall Texan. Those were all big songs back then and I still enjoy them very much. I remember my mom taking me to a concert and I think it was the Kingston Trio, but she has passed now, so I can't confirm that. But I adore all the old music so much! Real instruments, real singing, real songwriting. Real good music.
ОтветитьI always loved this simple but powerful song. I first heard it when I was around 12 years old and still enjoy listening to it now.❤️🎹🎼👍🏾
ОтветитьAlways interesting to see the sort of music that was popular at the time in the USA. Then, in Feb '64 the Beatles showed up on Ed Sullivan and literally, by the next day, that era was over.
ОтветитьThey custom-ordered those 12 strings from Gibson
ОтветитьA stupid meaningless song. But a great melody.
ОтветитьWhy do you play the record over the video and not the actual performance they gave at the time? 🤔
ОтветитьThey produce an amazing sound from just two acoustic guitars - even 12-stringed ones.
Ответить"Had to wait for Gibson to build a lefty version..." And it was a few more years before Martin built a lefty model for Paul McCartney.
ОтветитьFirst time to ever hear the original. I lived on Dr Hook's version
ОтветитьAM radio, before there was FM, in the car or handheld transistors & stereo consoles, 45 rpm vinyl and LP's, black and white TV, that's how we grooved. What we call "old school" now, was just school back then lol.
ОтветитьMAN, did i enjoy that performance !
ОтветитьEvery time I hear that song, it reminds me of when I was 12 and nuts about the 14 year old girl across the street. I'm sure we heard it many times sitting on her couch listening to the radio. Yes, I wanted to kiss her but never worked up the nerve.
ОтветитьThe guy with the flattop is giving me Bigfoot Bjornsen vibes from Inherent Vice.
ОтветитьCommunists
ОтветитьGreat restoration and such a fun song.
ОтветитьPriceless song, and what a great duo of 12 strings, timeless
ОтветитьGREAT MUSIC
ОтветитьAn imitation of Peter , Paul and Mary
ОтветитьThis tune started me playing guitar - it was a 12 string , THE most difficult guitar to play for a learner - still got it and yes still play this
ОтветитьTwo twelve strings! That was such an amazing record.
ОтветитьWhich one played lead guitar?
ОтветитьPoor them ! 5 minutes before the Beatles with a one hit wonder and nothing else. They believed that their "Folk" music with P. Paul & Mary, Dylan and others was the big trend of the coming 60s. Poor them, they lacked imagination!
Ответить.. lol ... The waiter, the monster and their mother, 5 minutes before the Beatles and their disappearance.
ОтветитьLava Chicken song? Minecraft movie? The song from the movie sounds similar to this
ОтветитьI was a very small boy, born in 1957, this song was hot branded into my memory #1 !
Was just crazy about it. (Do you want to lose your mind?)
Second song was " "there was a crooked man that walked a crooked mile" Don't let the rain come down. ???
Did you know folks they were called the rooftop singers because the big chap on the left his head stuck out through the roof
ОтветитьBelieve it or not - the female singer was married to both of the male singers (no, not at the same time). Sadly, she died by suicide in her forties.
ОтветитьMy Senior year in High School. Huge hit with everyone. No one had heard 12 string guitars before. Haven't heard this in decades, Thanks!
ОтветитьI’m 67. My sister who was 8 years old than me played this on her record player back then. Glad to come across it since it brings up good memories. Thank you!
ОтветитьInteresting - in the old times playing people were old!
Ответить“Walk Right In…Sit your
Black a$$ down “😂😂😂😂Who’s here from Tommy Sotomayor
all those tuners! holy cow that's a lotta guitar strings
ОтветитьMy wish is that never put lyrics to to this guitar
ОтветитьThinking in the past..❤❤❤
ОтветитьNobody in that trio was letting their hair hang down.
ОтветитьPretty heavy with 2
twelve string guitars and the chicks vocals.👍🏻
Me too i am from RSA i was a short little fella
ОтветитьI'm still not sure what to make of this newfangled hippy music. And these boys' hair is too long for my taste, what's going on with our boys today anyway??
ОтветитьI was 12 years old. Wow!
ОтветитьIt sounded too perfect to be live, but maybe they're that good. Sure seems the guitars were live...that's some badass sounding acoustic guitar.
Ответитьgroovey man
ОтветитьI could listen to this song repeatedly and never tire of it.. how talented these people were !!
ОтветитьGreat!🎉
ОтветитьWalk right in sit yo black ass down
ОтветитьI woke up this morning with this song playing in my head. I’m 73 & my health (fatty liver nerve & stomach issues) took a dump recently. I’m living on Chicken Noodle Soup & (plain) Tuna sandwiches on whole wheat bread & an orange or 2 😅 bland diet. Well I’ve lost some weight which I’ve been trying to do anyway and I’ve been feeling a bit better. Life is precious but fleeting. I’m still concerned but feelin’ good this morning I’m strapping on my acoustic and going to learn & play this song first thing this morning. It’s going to be a great day & maybe I’ll even return to working on my music (album) soon. Thanks for posting this old video of a cool song that never leaves your head even after 50 - 60 years or so! Cheers!

Only one thing better than the sound of a twelve string, and that's the sound of two twelve string acoustics!
ОтветитьI have a 12-string anthology played by a kid named Glen Campbell. Probably his first album.
