What do you use to blacken your parts. You are the best restorer ive seen or known.

I think it would be cool to see if you smelt down all the old replaced metal bits to make new cores for the lathe.

Does anyone ever collect and recycle or melt lathe and milling machine chips

Came here looking for ideas on how to make a missing key for my old wardrobe. Old one's badly bent, clearly two milled parts and a cylinder welded together. Milling the whole thing in one piece makes so much more sense.

Love your work and description. Your English is fine by the way. I work with many English second language speaking folks and they say the same things, the same way as you do. They have been here for over 20 or 30 years it is just the way your brain works. My fave is my phillipino buddy who always says " I'm mad to you / instead of I'm mad at you.

I love fixing, making and repairing stuff. But unfortunately I don't own a mill, lathe, piller drill, belt sander, spiral tap's, etc.

My grain of salt: (1) buy a TIG machine, your welds will better reflect your attention to detail and aesthetics, and (2) the machine will give you infinite more control over your work, you just need to practice welding
