North Vancouver Island | Telegraph Cove | Orcas, Dolphins, Porpoises, Otters, Sea Lions & Humpbacks

This Once In a Lifetime Experience Was One For The Ages. Telegraph Cove Is Located On The North East Coast Of Vancouver Island. It Is A Majestic And Vibrant Little Tourist Town With A Tiny Population Of About 20 Inhabitants. It Is Known For It Picturesque Views & It's Prime Location On The Johnstone Strait.

We Launched From The Marina On A Zodiak Open Air Boat Tour With Prince Of Wales Whale & Marine Wildlife Adventures And It Did Not Disappoint. On This 3 Hour Journey We Encountered Non Stop Action In The Waters With Everything From Rock Resting 600lbs Endangered Steller Sea Lions To Jumping Pacific White Sided Dolphins To 2 Species Of Apex Predator Killer Whales.

Resident And Transient Orcas Differ In Dialect, Diet, Size & Behavior. Resident Orcas Are Generally Smaller, Have Larger Pods And Feed Exclusively On Salmon Whereas Transient Orcas Are Larger & Longer, Are More Often Solo Or With Small Groups And Feed On Everything From Sea Lions To Dolphins & Porpoises. They Are Rarely Seen Interacting With Each Other, Let Alone In The Same Area.
Being As I Had Never Seen Orcas Or Dolphins Before, This Was Easily A Huge Lifetime Highlight For Me.
