I got the hoenn one for taking my eleven plus, I don't recall throwing it away so I should still have it somewhere. I remember constantly playing around with the hinge on it, it like swung out a bit.

I have a similar Pokédex to the Kalos version it opens up just like the one you had but this one had a feature where you press the button and it spins and makes lights and then if you put up a Pokémon toy up to it, it scans it
