I think fraud is a slanderous term. Many people have achieved great results from the X3, including John Jaquish. His method is just one of many methods to build muscle. Essentially “his” method focuses on the point of maximum muscle contraction at the shortest point ( where you would flex). Yes you are correct with regards to the length of the lever arm and this is also why isometric holds at stretch also build muscle; in the way gymnastics often do on the rings in certain holds. The X3 bar suits people with joint injury who cannot work at the full stretch point and the variable resistance reduces the load at full stretch. It also suits athletes who need to work on explosive concentric power with the bands acting as brakes to artificially slow the contraction whilst increasing the resistance. It provides a safe environment for these muscles to be strengthened.
In short X3 works like many other techniques. Choose what works for you but don’t condemn others just to promote yourself.

It doesn't matter where Jaquish got his degree from because all you need is College level Physics 2 to understand what he's talking about. Seems a lot of people (including the guy in the video?) missed that class.

I wouldn’t use the word fraud . X3 is overpriced, but you can get good results using resistance bands and a bar.

whatever it's called ,if your using bands they do work to a degree, but the form of resistance they give to the body is inferior to weight training.........

Your argument doesn’t disprove Dr Jaquish’s point, though. The band provides less resistance/less stress at the bottom of a press and the resistance increases as you go through the movement.

For example. Three hundred pounds free weight on a bar where you are at the weakest of the press is still three hundred pounds at the top where you are the strongest….it’s harder at the bottom than it is at the top.

However, a band that provides three hundred pounds of force at the top is way less resistance at the bottom of a press, so it’s better for your ligaments and muscle where you are at a disadvantage strength wise.

call it variable resistance to make it sound fancy, it's just stretching rubber bands, I made my own "x3" for 1/10th the price, with natural high quality latex bands at least as good as x3s £60 for a set of 6, I tried it hard for 4 weeks, no gains in size or strength! mind you I am 70 years old and have done lots of difference types of exercise in my time, not much more than beginner training tho, I was very sceptical about x3 but thought I'd try it on the cheap, not going to pay the massive amount for bands n bar n base plate, that rubs the bands and makes them fray! glad I did, i think that people new to exercise would make some gains, but seasoned weight trainers? doubt it

What an idiot… He starts his video off with a picture of a book that is backwards. I really believe.. What Dr J is saying is when doing exercises… say the bench press….we are weaker as the bar approaches are chest.. we are stronger as we extend the bar up. Variable resistance decreases the load as we approach weaker positions and increases load as we get to stronger positions.. you have a Problem with this because you only need 10 or 15 minutes to accomplish, which counter intuitive of what you were taught.

50+ here and getting the best results of my life with the X3 bar. If you are >50 and never lifted iron before, don't. It really will be a waste of time and increase the chances of an injury. If you've lifted weights all your life continue doing so, don't stop.

Apparently it’s better than barbells and dumbbells. Says the man that has a Ph.D. from Rushmore University which is an unaccredited university.
Weightlifting really doesn’t work?
Go into any of the thousands of gyms on planet earth 🌍.
Anyone who thinks a bar with a band will be more beneficial than barbells and dumbbells for putting on serious muscle needs to go back to school.
PS. I have a Ph.D. from a university that’s ranked 15th best in the world as per QS World University Rankings 2022 and my agenda is calling out liars and fraudsters.

Interesting that a HIT doesn't like what essentially looks like an adapted HIT program. I actually don't have it but from what I've read, it's pretty much Jones/Mentzer ideology.

I was recently part of the X3 group on Facebook. Somebody had put a post asking if an incline press should be added to Target the upper chest. So John Jaquish says that you cannot Target the upper chest. He says they're all tied from the humerus to the sternum together and they all work together. So I had made a comment saying that if you were to do the standing overhead press movement as prescribed by John with his program that you will fire the upper chest muscle fibers. John went on to call me stupid and told me that I'm a complete idiot and suspended me for the group for 30 days. He says that I don't know what the hell I'm talking about. It's funny because we all know aside from him that yes you can definitely Target a specific muscle

Jaquish is simply a scam artist that gives false hope to many, especially those with osteoporosis. His claims are false - I am a Clinical Densitometrist and their claims of building 14% in 6 months is a ridiculous claim. Add to that, he received is Ph.D from a diploma mill in the Cayman Islands. Thank you for your science based video. I have a video about him as well and thought I challenged him to produce DXA comparisons he did not. Although years ago he met with me and brought 5 DXA comparison cases and NONE of them showed gain. In fact, one was comparing the wrong femur and others had errors which he apparently did not catch because he is not a densitometrist. People warned me that he and Robbins would sue me. My video has well over 43,000 views and no, they did not come after me and would not want to see me in court. He will not challenge you either Jay! Glad to see your video 🙂

It’s honestly to bad you think he’s a fraud because you and him share the same principles.

His product is evolution of what you love, HIT training. One set to extreme muscular fatigue which is more pronounced with variable resistance then weights could ever provide.

I’d have more respect on your opinion of him if you had the X3 bar, tried it’s protocol for a month and then made a opinion. Everyone says he’s a fraud so to me it’s just like going with the crowd, try it before you go with everyone’s opinion.

I'm achieving great results with X3. AFTER I purchased it, I wanted to learn more, so I bought Dr. Jaquish's book to dive into the science more deeply. I highly recommend reading it, and you may largely change your mind. The man is an established medical researcher with a PhD in Bio-mechanics. For those of us that are older, and have preexisting injuries from weightlifting, this system is a miracle for maintaining and putting on muscle without the old injuries flaring up. Done properly, it is an extremely taxing and effective workout.

Honestly, I don't see anything overtly wrong with the X3 bands/bar. They provide variable resistance and leave room for progressive overload by doing more reps/moving to higher level resistance bands over time. JJ recommends doing one set to failure per body part, 6 days per week, push/pull routine.

So...I don't really see where the scam part comes in. Yeah, it's pricey but also made out of quality materials. You can try to DIY this but mileage may vary.

The fact that he claims they build muscle 3x than regular weights? Yeah, thats marketing speak and not directly proven by studies. But you WILL build muscle with these if you stay consistent just like with any other form of resistance.

With all due respect, I can not understand the point you are trying make. How does the moment arm become shorter during end of a bench press movement? Are you not stronger towards the end of the movement? Isn’t using a variable resistance band, similar to what Arthur Jones was achieving by using his sea shell cam? Thanks for our time mate.
