Mornin! You still in Australia mate or have you moved OS? Just looking at the snow is all. Not a hell of a lot of it here.
ОтветитьStill working well but the rifle & magazine does not like ammo with any ribs or nubs or any texture on the projectile !... The 1st round jambs every time unless I pull back & release the lever as fast as I can.
Anything with a smooth projectile gives me no trouble :)
Excellent remedy you did on that magazine. I have same rifle ,for two years now, and had multiple magazine problems. First was unable to even load ammo into mag. Second was the sharp edges on the feeder ramp on mag. Third was the base plate on bottom of mag would slide off with less tension of mag spring as I was shooting , eventually all inside of mag would fall out onto shooting table. So, the loading problem I fixed by watching a video here on you tube (Savage 64 magazine problems) -3 part video. Using a micro-file I solved that. And also cut 1/8 inch off mag spring. The base plate I used my plastic glue gun with a small bead on plate after re-assembled. The plastic is easily removed when needed and new glue applied to securely hold when in use.
ОтветитьGreat and thank you also. I did a complete cleaning as of yesterday. And am planning to finish breaking it in. Have only about 275 rounds through it so far. I had used all lead round tip on advice from a range shooter. Federal bulk 40 gr. and a few Winchester hollow points seem to work ok for this break in period. This coming next week I want to try shooting a whole bulk box of federal (325 rounds) same as I been using before I try CCI mini mags copper rounds in the savage 64. I have numerous .22 lr. hollow point ammo that I am hesitant in using in the Savage 64 but, my Taurus 94 .22 lr. /9 shot revolver shoots those or any thing with ease.
ОтветитьBuy a new mag
ОтветитьIt is not the magazine! The magazine housing ramp on mine is about 1/4 inch below the bore of the barrel. If Savage intended to have the magazine be the ramp they have failed completely because the magazine is about 1/8 of an inch below the bore and ¼ inch away from the bore.
ОтветитьThat’s why mine was jamming up
Ответитьsame problem, it's bad North American design. rifle is ok but the magazine.....
ОтветитьSavage would do a good service to it's customers by designing and producing a magazine out of modern, high strength, fiber reinforced, self lubricating polymer. They are still stuck with old zamack material from the sixties for their mags.
ОтветитьMine chipped and would shot all the rounds out and I just squeeze them a little bit no more problems but for a mag that cost 15-20$ a mag not good but can be fixed
ОтветитьA friend of mine bought one of those (new) in good faith and it was total junk, right out of the box. While true it didn't cost a lot, but it was still a waste of hard earned money. Better to spend a little more and get some quality, imho. How can it be considered a good gun if it won't even feed / fire until some extensive whittling is required at home to make it work?
ОтветитьThey need to make better magazines for this rifle. It would be an even better gun, they shoot very nicely.
ОтветитьIndeed it is a good rifle. Especially if you are willing to apply a little common sense polishing it "do it yourself" gunsmithing to them. I now prefer mine over a Ruger 10/22 in stock configuration. My trigger is better, and the accuracy is superior over my Rugers.
ОтветитьI’m having problems ejecting the bullets, it fires and spits the shell out but it doesn’t eject a live round to empty it for storage unless I shoot it out
ОтветитьYou know David, Savage has had these magazines in the market place for decades plus now, and yet the prices are getting higher ( crazier ) each year,.
.I wouldn"t mind that so much, ( well, yeah, I do ) but they seem to made of cheap metal too, maybe pot metal. I'm here in Canada, and I just had to pay somewhere in the area of 29CAD
plus shipping too, for this cheap poorly made , difficult to load ( when new, especially with cold fingers ).
I don't know why Savage hasn't improved these, I mean when you look at the easy to load and steel magazines for their model Mark II it kind of frustrates me. Their rifles are generally
really nice,..but those mags. YUK!!
I just wanted to get that off my chest. Hahaha! Thanks for the tip on fixing the old one's up a bit though.
Wish they had an aftermarket made quality magazine, and also an extended version for us Americans who love this Canadian rifle! Thanks for the tip!
ОтветитьI understand these cast pot metal, and as far as I know, cast metal like this will usually not bend, and if it does, it will be very little. Be careful, if you try to bend too much the cast metal will break!
ОтветитьSame problem
ОтветитьAluminium mag + iron bolt = problem
Ответитьwhy is it labeled 62F but is a 64f
ОтветитьA lot of people have been having problems with any gun purchase from Walmart I think these guns might have been sent out back to the company for being Rejects and they re fix them and sell them to Walmart that's why I only use gun shops and not buy from Walmart
ОтветитьSqueeze it back with some pliers really carefully. Oh there you go. Great minds think alike 👍👍.
ОтветитьFound out what was causing my issue with my clip. Remove the magazine, pull back on the extractor and look inside where the clip goes, you will see a dowel pin. That’s what was cutting my clip down. It was causing the round to jam. Once I got the dowel pin back down, I didn’t have any more issues.
ОтветитьThanks this fixed my feeding issue.
ОтветитьHad a 93 22 magnum that would all fly out the top a hammer and a anvil fixed it lol
