Mafia III is one of the most repetitive games I have ever played

After playing all 3 mafia definitive ed games, Mafia 3 was the best one with the more open world, the story, characters and the dlc makes it better but the territory system sold it for me, reminded me of Godfather 2 game

The only issue I have with this game is that it is buggy as hell. For example, I assign a racket to someone and the guys pull up and take over. But the scene will stay on that part. No matter where I move, the camera will stay on that one angle where the guys pull up. I have to constantly close and restart the game to progress the story. Other than that, I love it. The story is great, the gameplay is great, the racial tension is great. Other than the bugs, I love Mafia 3.

This game is “Scarface the world is yours” on max steroids

I completely skip the Mafia 3 until just a few days ago I bought the trilogy which included 1 2 and 3 so I didn't play this game when it first came out keep that in mind I think Mafia 3 is a big mess was it worth essentially the $10 I paid for it because I basically paid $30 for all three games yes would I have paid full price for this game when it came out at $60 no this game is a hot mess graphically it's not very impressive it reminds me of basically Scarface from 2005 mixed with Max Payne original Xbox gameplay

Great game play it for the story not for the open world really good story

The gunplay is amazing the mele is seamless with the gunplay

After playing around 90 hours I convinced myself that this game is actually no way near as bad as everyone depicts it and doesn't deserve many of the negative reviews.

I actually loved it and found it way better then expected (because of the negative reviews)

What I enjoyed the most:
- story
- cutscenes
- dialogues
- characters
- music
- cover system
- stealth ability
- brutal executions
- combat
- character movement and physics
- shooting
- cars
- driving
- 60s atmosphere
- lighting system
- graphics (overall are great with some important minuses)
- inventory system (call for backups, ammo, kickbacks, cut the phone lines, police dispatcher)
- the city
- police and witness detection
- and so many other details

What I really disliked:
- the cutscenes are pre rendered and don't match the weather and clothes you are wearing
- Maybe what I disliked the most: sometimes the storyline becomes hard to follow and is complicated with tons of side characters (English is not my first language, that might be a reason) and sometimes I end up confused about who's who and what am I doing and why?
- some minor bugs and system crashes (that actually were not so often)
- repetitiveness of the missions (sometimes can become dull and boring)
- blurry and washed out colors (even though the graphics were not bad overall)

I think this game would have been so damn good if it was given a little more attention, care and polish.

Overall I'd rate this game 8/10

Watching this for nostalgic feels. Anyone else or just thinking of getting it?🙂

Mafia 2 is better than mafia 3 .

I did not know Mafia III existed, I do not understand how I missed it... I been considering buying Mafia 1 and 2 and for long time been on the fence and did test Mafia 2 but the graphics was outdated and game felt just to old.

Mafia 3 is grossly underrated. An absolutely brilliant game. I didn’t like it all that much at first, but then I gave it another try and I’m SO glad I did. I’ve finished it four times over now 👏🏻

The story is not a mafia story. that much is clear

I’m late to this game so I have the definitive addition on ps4z I absolutely love it. This is my GTA vice city for 2022. Palm trees, alligators and all…or at least I like to think of it that way at times.

The game is 100% trash though. It's really just not a Mafia game. And it fails to really come across as a 70s era setting, actually. It may appear like a passable GTA clone, but the story is dumb. It's nothing but revenge cliche after cliche. They tried to do the storytelling Mafia 1 had, which is really the only thing halfway good. Overall gameplay is trash. The shooting is very auto aim based.

The game is good, especially the storyline. But the part where you have to do tons of repetitive missions to get to a boss, is just tiring and bland.

I still very much appreciate and sorta like the game.

About the cars, you said that in mafia 2 the cars are more realistic that mafia 3 cuz the cars are slow and stuff like that, in mafia 2 its the 40s and 50s and the cars we slower and worse then, in mafia 3 the cars are faster and easier to control cuz its 60s and 70s

The Mafia series as a whole feels like another version of GTA, 1 was surprisingly good( I didn't expect it to be this good, but I played the DE), altho it didn't bring me to tears like Artur's fate did in Red Dead 2, poor Arthur, and 2 actually feels like GTA 4 set in the 40s, actually it even has a similar premise, guy arrives from overseas and friend in the states get's him work, small time crime that is hard to keep track of but pays well, hell both games have car stealing, only GTA4 sells cars whole while Mafia crushes them up!

I played Mafia I back in the early 2000s on PC. It was an amazing game back then, but it was also ridiculously glitchy, with awful shooting mechanics, and tons of crashing (This was a huge problem when you had very few patches that needed to be dowloaded manually).

The shooting mechanics in OG Mafia I feel like they were put in as an afterthought and there are several missions you essentially have to cheese through because you can't effectively run around and fight like in a modern shooter. It was great at the time if you could stand all the issues. There also was a required race sequence that was essentially impossible for an average person to beat without cheating, and you had to beat it to progress in the story. They actually had to patch the game, so normal people could beat it. It's just as bad as the bank heist driver mission in GTA: Vice City.

Some people act like we should look back at Mafia I like it's the original Star Wars trilogy and the new games are the prequels, when in reality, the new games are very well done for the most part in a direct comparison. Nobody played Mafia I back then for the gameplay. We played it for the story and atmosphere, which was unmatched at the time.

the dlc missions were not great at all and the main game would be better in a style like mafia 1 instead of artificialy prolong the game hours by doing the same racket quests all over again

nah fam they got like 9 songs in total, i definetely have to bump my own playlist because it just got really repetitive, also the racket missions where all the same for the whole game

I'm here 5 years later just bought and started playing mafia 3 and am very much enjoying it. I'm actually still on the first mission and its on easy with the aim assist on but i can already see and feel the quality of this game. Thanks for the tip on buying this one. Mafia 2 on ps3 is next on my list👍

Damn bro, already 5 years ago? Remember when i picked this game up on release at GameStop, they gave me a Mafia 3 T-shirt for free.

I remember this game was a disaster on release, there was to many bugs which ruined the experience, then the game felt the same all the time, you had to go through same shit over and over again to reach the bosses... That was kinda boring. Otherwise I loved the environment/atmosphere in the game, the music and the story telling.
