Yayy!!
ОтветитьHanna looks like an older version of my girlfriend Flannery O Connor
ОтветитьFantastic discussion!
ОтветитьTwo worms at their bookishly boisterous best!
ОтветитьSo good to see you both in the same frame! Always a good discussion.
ОтветитьHooray!!! I’ve been waiting for this! So wonderful to see you together! 😊
ОтветитьWell this was all kinds of delightful!
ОтветитьKing and Queen of the prom!
ОтветитьNice to see one of Hannah and Steve’s favourites, Philip Roth, in the frame.
Ответитьlovely to see you both - cheering my Sunday evening in Cornwall England
ОтветитьWell I like Faulkner and Maigret. So there.
Ответитьoooh, a re-questioning to challenge Steve 🤭👏🏻 fun stuff you two! lovely to meet you, Hannah
ОтветитьI’ll have to get Benjamin Nathans’s book now.
ОтветитьCongratulations on having a guest, and major congratulations on exceeding 17.8k subscribers!!!
You’re becoming the GOAT!
James Franco co-wrote the screenplay, directed, and starred in a movie adaptation of Faulkner’s As I Lay Dying in 2013, which you might enjoy better than the book.
😺✌️
Love the interesting discussion. Next up: Steve and Hannah's lecture series @ High Cottage with cameo appearances of Frieda for the intermission.
ОтветитьAny tantalizing clues about the yet-to-be-released translation? How is it that you happen to know about it? What is the original language?
ОтветитьEvery time I listen to Hannah talk about books I’m reminded of many of my favorites. Our tastes are very similar. But of course Hannah is much more gentle and kind than I am. The Last September! I loved that so much, and almost all of Jewett as well.
ОтветитьI like watching you two talk about books together.
It’s informative and sometimes beyond what I know about as a reader but so friendly that I don’t feel left out.
'Pointed Firs' was pleasant to read. It fits better in my mind with a nature piece to compliment it like 'Autumnal Tints'.
ОтветитьI could listen to you guys talk for hours!
ОтветитьOh, The Country of the Pointed Firs by Sarah Orne Jewett! It’s my must-reread every summer without fail. I adore Mrs. Todd and her connection with nature. Would love to hear it discussed! I thought I was the only one to have read this precious piece of literature.
ОтветитьJane Austen is just part of us.
ОтветитьI’m interested in what Hannah is saying about the slaves – and to add to that, I think the spirituals that they composed and sang and sang a Capella in incredible harmonies speaks volumes about the inner souls that were not crushed beyond all sense of joy and hope for the future.
ОтветитьI own three biographies of Dorothy L Sayers. But I would say – I have never seen one of RuthRendell. I find that really weird as she was a hugely prolific, best selling and interesting British author who’s only recently died. But not a word. Please would anybody out there Let me know if they’ve seen one?
ОтветитьI started rereading Maigret this summer and i am going to collect all of his Maigret Books because there is a new translation and i love the nostalgic cover art of those new editions.
ОтветитьAbsolam! Absolam!
ОтветитьI wish you two were my friends IRL - I'd sit captivated and learn so much...maybe even contribute a little.
ОтветитьI’m almost finished with Natural Magic and agree with Hannah; it’s first rate.
ОтветитьI loved your book chat so much! Just that glimpse into your discussion about James was so fascinating. I’m so looking forward to Hannah’s thoughts on James. And your final thoughts on it too, maybe later in the year, Steve. An interview with drunk Hannah sounds too good to be true! Frida is such an individual 💜
ОтветитьThese conversations are a delight. Frieda is a minx pushing Hannah of the chair. No cat would be so outrageous.
ОтветитьThe Great Gatsby is one of the very few books I have re-read.
ОтветитьFabulous! Thank you - this could become a tradition - fingers crossed!
