I mean I get the point that according to Marxist theory, college educated and non-college educated workers are both part of the proletariat, but you can't ignore that modern day Americans perceive a class divide between white-collar and blue-collar workers, and with over 60% of Americans not having a bachelor's, its a divide that Harris needs to address. Even if in terms of policy, she's targeting both educated and uneducated workers, in terms of rhetoric, she's primarily appealing to the educated and urban, while mostly ignoring the rural uneducated demographic.

Many children grow up around only people who are just like themselves. They learn a simple our-tribe-good, other-tribe-bad, form of morality. If they go to college they sometimes meet people who aren't much like themselves and find them to be good people also. Sometimes that tribal morality doesn't hold up. That's when their parents realize their children have been taught to be liberals.

Teixeira's bio reads like a textbook example of a liberal elitist twat who gets high on his own farts and has never held a real job in his life. This explains the obvious disdain he has for the "uneducated working class". If this were an episode of Survivor, his worthless ass would be the first one voted off the island.

That said, the Dems need to quit letting the GOP drive the narrative and show the 99% that they have solid plans to bring everyone's standard of living up.
I've said this before but it needs repeating. It is going to take more than one voting cycle to defeat the Christo-fascist cabal that is behind MAGA and Project 2025. The Dems need to keep the messaging crisp and to the point. Don't cluster 100 things into a bill with some clever name. If you are doing a jobs bill, call it the jobs bill. If it is infrastructure, the call it the infrastructure bill. If it is about a working class tax cut then call it the working class tax cut. Short clean bills out of committee quickly, through floor debate and to a vote. Then on to the next. So the working class that Congress is actually working and getting things done.
And pass an F-inf budget!!!.

Non-educated people are far more likely to fall into conspiracy theories and hate politics and thus are easily manipulated by bad actors. I watched helplessly as two of my good friends who were not educated as I was fall into the world of Alex jones never to be seen again. Critical thinking isn't a natural ability, sadly.

Maybe because a lot of immigrants are college educated and the anti-immigration sentiment coming from Republicans is a turn off for them. The usual gripe from the uneducated whites are "immigrants are taking our jobs" but in reality, the immigrants are their bosses. I would assume that even white immigrants are offended by the rhetoric from the right.

More lefties should acknowledge stupidity. The left can win on this issue. Stupidity exists. It's possibly genetic. The right wing wants stupid people to suffer for something that possibly isn't their fault. The left wing wants stupid people to have a safety net job that pays them enough money to cover the cost of living in a studio apartment and have a modest amount of spending money

Same issue for centre-left parties in the UK at the 2019 election. The Labour Party tried to offer them something truly transformational economically but it was all about immigration for these voters. Like what happened in the UK, the only way these low education voters start falling away is if like the governing Conservative Party in the UK between 2019-2024 you promise them that immigration will reduce substantially and then immigration increases 3 fold and then you break every other promise you make. These voters then either just get disillusioned and stop voting or they start voting for the even crazier right-wing 3rd party option and it splits the right wing vote.

He's not a liberal. He's an anti-woke self-identifying leftist who wants to win by not offending the social sensibilities of the prejudiced poor. The wild thing is that he took a position at AEI, which kind of calls into question the actual leftist credentials.

What he fails to understand is that the right only targets "woke" issues out of convenience. If you give in on those things, they'll find another wedge, another group to hate. He's just an old white man who wants the crazy kids to get off his lawn so he can get back to his old-school leftist talking points that apparently worked oh so well back when he was a crazy kid himself.

Everybody who has to trade their lifetime and skills to sustain their lifestyle IS working class by definition. It has nothing to do with education. Those who can live off the returns of there capital are not, wether or not they decide to have a profession.

Honestly using the term "Working class" to mean anyone who doesn't have enough capitol to live on is outdated, and has been outdated for a while. Where this article refers to the Working Class, they definitively mean a group of people that doesn't include Doctors and Lawyers, but has unique to them political and economic interests. We do need the term "unskilled labour" to be able to have these conversations.

If this is the white working class that favors Trump/GOP, it's because they associate the GOP with white people. "Hard-working, tax-paying white people" and the DNC with welfare queens and other assorted rift raft. Therefore, the question of who would be better for the economy in their minds is without question the GOP. Even though the record shows the Democrats have a better economic record and create millions more jobs, they cannot connect the party for lazy welfare queens as the same party that makes millions of jobs.

I’d also like to point out that a lot of polls are filtered by “likely voter”. Most people without college educations don’t vote, so they are ignored by pollsters. Which means that there is a polling skew towards non-college graduates who DO vote.

But why do they vote when others of their demographic do not? Well there are lots of reasons, but generally they need a motivation to vote rather than the standard “civic duty” stuff you get from college. One such motivation to vote is racism. People who aren’t (actively) racist are not motivated to vote based on race, whereas racists are motivated to vote. This may mean that racists are oversampled voters, and thus oversampled in polls/media, since they all have at least one motivation to vote.

Which is why Trump’s “motivate the racists” campaign manages to work despite all logic. There are enough racists left in this country to form a major voting block that had previously been disappointed by the slow move away from explicit racism in American politics. And many appear to be coming from the non-college demographic simply because that’s the demographic with the most non voters.

My mother, would rather pay MORE for private healthcare than pay less for nationalized healthcare. Her reasons are that she doesn't want to have to pay for other people's healthcare.

She is the stupid racist rural hick Vaush is talking about.

(EDIT) The reason educated people are more left leaning on average is because the universe trends towards the left. Here's a few objective facts.

The various religions made up by man are all at best incorrect. The most likely answer to is there a god is "no" and no, the non-zero chance that there might be a creator is not proof that there is one.

There is no objective value to nature, or the natural progression of life.

There is no objective value to anything at all really. Only what we choose to value inside our squishy head fillers.

Only ignorance and/or dishonesty can cause a person to go against these objective facts of the universe.

The more educated a person is the more likely they are to understand these truths and live their lives accordingly.

The problem is, people don't vote based on their interests, they vote based on their beliefs, and rural voters "believe" that Republicans have their interests at heart.

When people go to college, they end up encountering people from outside their local community, and that contact influences them. eg. Normal gay people, immigrants (from, say, European nations that have socialized healthcare). Once people have those kind of influential experiences, it's harder for Republican xenophobia to affect them.
Seeing people from other cultures on TV has a similar, albeit lesser, influence. As does online exposure.
