This technique goes by many names such as
Marcot
Air Layering
Marcottage
Marcotted
Marcotting
We often get asked what is a Marcot and why are they used when propagating fruit trees in Australia. It is a technique often used with Logans and Lychees and many other fruit trees and is very similar to growing a plant from a cutting but instead of growing it in a pot in the soil it is grown inside the tree itself connected to a branch where it forms the roots.
