So, it's a suicid case....

In Feb 2001 I failed a road side test after a night out, it was snowing, I was 22, stupid and had only been driving a year. Like this guy I had 2 beers but over 4 hours. In the station they dragged some drunk guy in cuffs through and pushed me out the way to get the machine first. He'd crashed drunk into a car and seriously hurt a mum and her daughter. He came up 144mg - limit was 35mg. Mine came up at 34mg. The officer shouted at me "I deal with pricks like this every fcking day - is that you next?" First time in my life I felt genuinely ashamed. Oh yeah, they also dropped me 1 mile from my car with no coat on. A learning experience which I've never even considered repeating

It has become apparent that drug addicts and alcoholics are treated with the utmost respect by the courts. Sending them to jail for a short vacation, giving them all the counseling and help they want to "get their life back on track". Meanwhile the victims are laid to rest and the families have to deal with the aftermath without any professional help or counselling.With this kind of justice, you are better off as the perpetrator than as a victim.
In my opinion there shouldn't be a second chance if you killed someone in a car crash.

What enrages me is how the police seem to turn a blind eye on people who use mobile phones and smoking drugs in their cars which I see every single day and cause destruction on the roads, Complete heartache for thousands of people when there is a fatality. There are too many vehicles on the roads and not enough proper policing. There should be average speed cameras everywhere!. All vehicles should be limited to that countries highest speed limit, UK 70MPH with the exemption of MEDICAL,POLICE AND FIRE SERVICES. Raise the age to drive to 21 another idea. Proper education not the woke nonsense. Ban electric vehicles (bombs on the road) change to hydrogen water fueled engines but again its always about MONEY!.

Drink driving is one offence that really annoys me, but then you get people who constantly drink and drive get caught serve a ban drink drive get caught get a ban and so on so I think the law should be changed

1st offence, serve your ban and get your license back

2nd Offence Serve your ban do 10 hours driving practice and sit an extended driving test (at drivers expense)

3rd Offence Do an IAMS Advanced driving course and test and then return the license ( at drivers expense)

4th Offence the driver obviously hasnt learned from their bans so the licence is permantly revoked so driver is banned for good,

Maybe the same system should be used for drivers with excess levels of drugs in their system and end this endless cycle od drink caught ban and so on

I’m all for having a good night with your buddies but be smart and don’t go drive afterwards.

Go and call a friend or get a ride back home.

If you kill or maim whilst driving drunk, drugged or distracted by texting or otherwise manipulating a phone or similar; then aside of any custodial and financial penalties, you should never be allowed to drive again in this country. Only when the lifetime loss of the perpetrator's driving licence is introduced in legislation and applied by the courts will hard-core offenders and those indifferent to the right to life of other people consider their selfish behaviour because of its effects and affects upon themselves.

Dude, you need to be put into a room with the family of people killed by impaired drivers, be forced to go to the funerals, perhaps ride along attending crashes... whatever it takes to get it through your obviously extremely thick skull...

If the fellow admits to drinking a couple of pints, then driving home, hopefully his employer etc re-evaluate his ability to make good decisions and their relationship with him.

The alcohol limit should be zero & governments should upgrade their public transport offerings. I have 2 amputees in my immediate family (one also a paraplegic) & a third who needs hip & knee replacements, all thanks to drunk & dangerous drivers. People (as a species, not every individual) cannot be trusted to not drink & drive, as history continues to show. Zero limit, zero tolerance.

Long story short I had spinal fractures and serious internal injuries. Was told I was lucky to have survived
Years later I’m sure you can believe my shock when getting into a taxi it turned out it was the same guy
I’d been told after the accident it wasn’t the first time he’d had accidents like that.
