a lot of the people you listed probably didn't have the Spirit within them, so...
ОтветитьThe Bible itself will give you the correct interpretation. The Holy Spirit shines the proper light on Scripture and will reveal the scriptural connection with other passages, history and reality.... espcially in regards to prophecy. That's how He leads and guides into all truth according to the narrow road. He makes you see the bigger picture and finetunes and pefects your life according to God's will. Everything else is a counterfit. That's why we need to test the spirits!
ОтветитьThanks for this video. I've been guilty of this myself. Excuse my out of context paraphrasing, but I recall a scripture in Jeremiah that states man's heart is deceitful and desperately wicked and so on. This tells me not to trust what our hearts AND mind tells us. But rather to take it to the Word. Be blessed. Maranatha!
ОтветитьThank you. Amen
ОтветитьI am praying for you brother God bless you. I only recently learned about you and the work the Lord has you doing for him through brother Doctor Michael Brown when you appeared on his program. I will continue to support you prayerfully brother in Christ and financially since I have learned some things from you. There is so much to learn in the Bible and I thank the Lord for the various teachers that he has risen up during my time that I might come to know God better and to learn his word with a better understanding. I agree with you brother that indeed we need to pray that God would help us with the interpretation and I also agree with you that we need to be careful in our approach to interpreting the Bible. Thank you for all that you are doing to help people learn to interpret the Bible better. I appreciate your tools and the hard work you've done in Christ Jesus. I know there is going to be a great reward with the Lord when that day comes and I know many people on that day will boast about you in the Lord and God I'm sure will see that your work will hold up I pray in Jesus name that you get a reward brother God gave you this Talent now I pray the Lord also help you imitate Christ in everything your attitude your heart and that the Lord will give you wisdom and strength in all that you do for your family friends and the strangers that you are helping for the church in Jesus Christ. May Our God and Father bless you in the name of Jesus and I thank you so much for your strength and your boldness to be doing the work that God has you do it's a tough job and not very popular position but I appreciate all the different things that you are doing for the Lord I'm going to learn from you brother and I am going to continue to pray for you and support you in prayer and help you along in that way and do all I can to help you also financially. Thank you and grace to you.
ОтветитьI have a friend who holds a PhD in Theology. He believes the Holy Spirit will always lead him to a true interpretation of any passage. He doesn't know much about the Bible, he never took any course in Greek or Hebrew, I doubt he knows how to use a concordance. He won't show me his Dissertation. He admits he threw out any hermeneutics, he doesn't use it, or believes in it. He never comes to my class. Oh yea, he's a prophet too.
Ответить🖐️ Why is the Holy Spirit not able to do this? I'm new lol
ОтветитьThank you!
ОтветитьSome concepts have multiple valid interpretation. This should not be surprising to a scholar of ancient languages. Furthermore, one cannot be expected to be led by the Holy Spirit unless one confesses their known sins to God on a regular basis (1 John 1:9) It is a function of our royal priesthood in Christ. You should use 1 John 1:9, ask the Father for the truth, and consider removing this disinformation.
ОтветитьDr Heiser, Your honesty is soooooooooo helpful. Thank you for sharing this with us.
ОтветитьI don't think it's a myth, once a person looks the lord with all her/his heart . The Most High will be found, and it is not other but the Spirit who would lead that person to fulfill that desire of finding the Creator.
Ответить👊✌
ОтветитьYeah, this dude is definitely a false teacher and I'm officially done with him. The bible is quite clear on this issue so where is he getting his truth from? The text never says to expect perfection because we aren't yet perfect so why is he using the precise exact interpretation as his standard, as if the bible doesn't say our knowledge is at the time imperfect? And yet STILL the gift interpretation is given to ALL anyway. For "the spiritual man can make judgements about all things" and "you should be teachers by now but you still need milk". He is lead by demons. I resisted saying this for a LONG time despite the fact that I've believed for a long time that he's trying to resurrect the Canaanite paganism, but he is certainly led by demons. I wish I would have known this video existed before...
It is not only a fact that the bible is a self-interpreting book, but that this self-interpretation is revealed by the Spirit. For "the word of YHWH is living and active". The problem of reliability isn't with the Spirit but with you being subject to flesh rather than the Spirit — and if YOU can't be trusted, what makes you think that HEISER can be trusted? Do you put too much stock in pagan syncretic texts like Enoch? Yet he does, so you're already one step ahead of him. So why listen to him?? He wants you listening to him and eating out of his hand like all false teachers. Don't fall for it, man.
I would suggest the Holy Spirit will, in fact aways lead all of us to the correct interpretation—I can't imagine Him giving contradictory truths! The question, though is this: is it always the Holy Spirit who leads us when we study Scripture? I think the answer is clearly in the negative. I don't believe that the Holy Spirit gave Calvin, Arminius and Luther all the truths they concluded, nor do I believe everything I personally believe has been from the Holy Spirit. Further, I'm not too worried about it. We are creatures who are constantly using our minds to think through and educe truth, and often times while we work within this process it isn't the Holy Spirit at all leading us...BUT He allows such mentally worked out "truth" to stand in believers' minds, in that He considers their maturity, power of processing and humbleness of heart to learn. God is not bothered in the least that one person might be a Calvinis and another an Arminianist; what He is bothered by is pride and arrogance, and the lack of maturity among believers to disagree agreeably, knowing that no one walks around with 100% truth. But as to that which comes from the Holy Spirit, it absolutely has to be truth (be it in its incipiency or further development) or it's not of God.
ОтветитьIf everyone can just understand the scriptures why are there thousands of denominations contradicting each other...
ОтветитьThe Holy Spirit leads us if we ask The Holy Spirit to lead us. But that doesn't mean The Holy Spirit will lead us to the exact Greek or Hebrew or Aramaic source from which a word is translated. That's the job of the bible scholar, not The Holy Spirit.
ОтветитьGod doesn't say this anywhere in the bible, that the holy spirit will give us the correct interpretation. If he did we'd all come to the same conclusion... Dr. Heiser has it right and it's a liberating conclusion.

ОтветитьShalom and ❤
I am sorry, but as a theologian and discipel of Yeshua i strongly gotta disagree with this statement.
First, the conclusion he mades is just 100 % wrong:
He says (min2.22):
" its a myth that The Holy Spirit will lead you to the correct interpertation".
His whole conclusion/claim is wrong, because how can he make this statement about the Spirit of God? The Holy Spirit of God always wants to lead us to the truth of His Word. Always. No question. God always wants to show us the truth. The truth about His Word, the truth about ourselves.
The problem lies not with The Holy Spirit of God, the problem lies with people, and there understanding of scripture + there understanding of the voice of God. The problem lies at the side of human beings.
What would be way more wiser to say is:
" Not every one who wants the know the truth and has The Holy Spirit will always finds the right(same) interpertation of a certain passage in the Bible in his lifetime."
That could be true.
But to claim, and he is claiming as a truth:
That it is a myth that The Holy Spirit of God will guide us to the right (same) interpertation, is just wrong.
How does he know? Where does he base this on?
Because of great man of God didn't came to the same conclusion in the past? That doesn't say anything, about the fact if we ask The Holy Spirit for guidance or truth concerning scripture, that He will not lead us to the right or same interpretation. The problem lies at the side of human beings and understanding His Voice, His Guidance, correctly. There lies the problem.
He is right about the fact that people judge each other sometimes in the body of Christ nowadays and in the past, that they might judge each other because they didnt came to the same interpertation of scripture. That claim, or conclusion is true. This really happened and still happens.
Shalom and ❤

So does this mean that all of these views should be accepted as valid? What's the point of having theological debates then?
ОтветитьYes! I just cannot get my fundamentalist friends to understand this! Look, the Holy Spirit is not going to drop all of the answers into our laps. He wants us to do the hard work of exegesis. And he has given us the tools to do this. In fact, in the modern era, we have more tools for in-depth Bible study than theologians of the past. I'm pretty sure that Saint Augustine and Thomas Aquinas didn't have Logos Bible Software. For example.
As C.S Lewis said "God is no fonder of intellectual slackers than any other slackers."
If I may humbly critique this teaching. Jesus taught that if we pray and believe you'll receive (Mark 11 and James 1 echos this). This is not to say we cannot error, but rather ask and God will provide you with wisdom to find the answer through the Holy Spirit. If you haven't found the answer continue to ask as Jesus also teaches. Again not to say we cannot error. Rather, God has equipped every believer to have access to all Truth.
ОтветитьRespectfully totally disagree with you. The Spirit WILL lead me into all truth!
ОтветитьAnother important quote of mine: "You explained this much better than I probably did. The position is illogical because it presumes that there is no human element. This is disproved in the Scripture as early as Moses being banned from the Promised Land despite being a legitimate prophet, perhaps even as early as the Woman in the Garden (who had no sin nature and still changed the words of God). It's a unbiblical position that comes from wooden interpretation masquerading as logic. It's worldly philosophy — an argument that can be found in Catholicism and the Orthodoxy long before Heiser came up with it. It seems to always be used by people who want to make themselves the sole authority that gets everything right."
ОтветитьThe scriptures say that Holy Spirit is our teacher. If he isn't teaching us truth that's problematic. I think the problem isn't with the perfect Spirit of God but with in imperfect human nature in men. I think we all have problems listening at times.
ОтветитьThe Holy Spirit will make us realize that “even our righteousness is as filthy rags before the Lord.” Then and only then we will have a new and common perspective on Bible teachings.
ОтветитьI think this thumbnail is misleading...it sounds like he is saying the Holy Spirit will not always lead people to the correct conclusion, which might imply He would lead them to an incorrect conclusion. The Holy Spirit WILL ALWAYS lead to a correct conclusion IF He is doing the leading. The myth is that people think because they are Spirit filled, where-ever they land with an interpretation, that must then be the correct one. That is absolutely dangerous, and I think that is what Dr Mike was trying to say...the title brings confusion.
I heard someone answer the following question: 'why if people are all filled with the same Spirit they come to different conclusions?...answer: 'because even if we have all of the Spirit, doesn't mean He has all of us...our own ideas, filters, etc will influence our interpretations'...
I paraphrase, but I hope you get the idea
10 years ago, I would call you a blasphemer for saying this. But since then, I saw so many leaders giving their own interpretation with "God showed me" that just happened to be wrong after more than 5 minutes of reading the context. Not that they are fake or not authentic but sometimes it's just that their heart is deceitful.
ОтветитьGod has unveiled that the Epistle of The Unveiling of Jesus Christ(Commonly called Revelation) God gave Him to show his holy ones VIA ANGELS, is the GREAT ERROR nd MYTH....and 2 Thessalonians 2 below clearly speaks of an EPSTILE that comes in word and spirt right before the PRSENCE of CHRIST, this Book has some truth and much ERROR.
Ever wonder where that Epistle of ERROR is?
Now may God concede to open your heart, eyes and through-thinking, so you may COME OUT of these hard words and works in this Epistle and run for the PRIZE of the Out-Resurrection in His Presence for the EON to COME!
Revelation 1.1 Unveiling of Jesus Christ,
which God gave Him
to show to His holy ones
what it is binding
to become in quickness;
and He signified it,
dispatching through His angel
to His slave John,
2 Thessalonians 2.2 to the end
that you be not quickly shaken
away from the thinking,
but also not be dismayed(consternation)
neither through spirit,
nor through word,
nor through an epistle,
as if through us,
as though the day of the LOrd
has already taken in-stand.
The fact that some people disagree with you on this one 'interpretation' proves your point.
ОтветитьQuestion: What does the scripture about the Holy Spirit leading us into all truth mean in it's proper context? If our belief that the Holy Spirit will lead us to correct interpretation of scripture is an incorrect interpretation of the text, then what is the correct interpretation?
ОтветитьI was always terrified that I would mistake my own thoughts for God speaking to me. And one day I realized that if God truly wanted to speak with me or communicate with me, especially in a way that I could not doubt it was him, he could easily do so. Look at when he wanted to communicate with Moses he made it abundantly clear that what was going on in no possible way could be in his head and even allowed witnesses to the communication/miracles.
So I definitely always pray for truth, but I also learn to be humble and accept the fact that maybe I could be wrong on something or that I haven’t yet been taught the truth yet on something.
I feel it has done me wonders!
The problem isn’t whether the Holy Spirit can show us truth. The problem is with us knuckle heads. The men you name all made errors. Some of those errors were grievous. Lord help us.
ОтветитьThose who ask shall receive..
ОтветитьThe holy spirit speaking to you can be as simple as that little feeling in your gut that whatever interpretation you have, you don't even fully believe is justifiable, that little queasy feeling. Why would you assume that the holy spirit will force anyone to right doctrine? It's an excuse not to have to explain anything to anyone. I would suggest the Holy Spirit acts on the people who hold this belief in the way I just mentioned
ОтветитьI like to say that the reason for the many disagreements and the consequent denominational splits is because people stopped listening to the Holy Spirit. Paul was a scholar and yet he did not understand the Scriptures until the Spirit of God revealed them to him, (Galatians 1:11-12). We are a BODY, i.e. we need each other's perspective. But true and right perspective can only come as we have the proper heart attitude before the Lord, which Paul describes in Philippians 3 as having our eyes wholly fixed on Jesus, expecting correction (that means continuing to listen), and walking in the Light we have until we know more. The pride of the heart brings people to conclusions that they are unwilling to submit back to the Lord; it causes the spiritual eyes and ears to close because we 'already know.' Church doctrine may be known backwards and forwards, you don't need the intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit in order to preach what you know. You can bring everybody up to speed so to speak and miss the entire point. That is: what does the Spirit have to say to the Church? All is NOT contained within the walls of denominational doctrine, any more than your marriage is contained within the boundaries of your wedding vows. A living dynamic relationship that digs for wisdom as one mines for gold will yield far more of interest and practical application to the Body than all of the moldy manna distributed by the clergy.
'Context' is not only of the surrounding verses, but of the chapter, the Book, the dispensation, and the whole Word of God. The work required to receive the Scriptures is a work of grace, humility, prayer, and lots of waiting. Waiting, not days, or weeks, but years. It is the life's work which God will reward. In fact the Lord Jesus tells us in His letters to the churches that the church of Philadelphia would be "kept from the hour of Temptation which is to try the whole earth" BECAUSE they KEPT the Word, (Rev 3:10, part of which is repeated in vs 8).
Nailed it, no one gets it all perfectly correct, because our humanity gets in the way. We have what I call "pet doctrines" that we develop over time usually this comes about because of our pride in thinking we have found something no one else knows!
ОтветитьRussia is terrorist state
Putin is a murderer
This is not even a strong argument lol
ОтветитьThis is very discouraging!!! What is the point of Bible study and of praying for discernment if the Holy Spirit is NOT going to help us understand the Scriptures correctly?!?!😢
Ответить🙏🙏🙏🇮🇳
ОтветитьBold-Faced Blasphemy... What happens to men who commit blasphemy against the Holy Spirit? Someone like Heiser who calls the power of the Holy Spirit a myth and ignores scripture proving it is not a myth. Who is right? God of Heiser?
