Ty for the info! But not all players want to bloody grind so hard to get things as fast as possible like you do. I guess you are pvp player mostly. I'm not atm, and I like to have years of fun, and not only 12 months. So, this is what you are doing wrong commander!

Is this game still getting any feed back? All the posts I'm seeing on ED are years old, and I'm still an avid player.

Thankfully ignorance is not consider "doing something wrong".
Things I've learned:
Fuel star filter for designing routes.
Pip Management.
Power management.
I have no need for anything else... but the space to explore.

Well, it looks like I do 3 things right... probably. I started playing ED back in 2017 or so, and seven years later I don't even try to do what I know I should do. Why? Because I still don't know how to do them using my mouse and keyboard. I don't know which keys and buttons to push because no one (especially Frontier) provides basic instructions. And I'm talking really BASIC. For instance, I would love to gather minerals and materials from the many planets I visit. I even have an SRV to putter around in, but I'll be damned if I know how to aim its gun at a target without having to aim with the entire SRV. Doesn't the gun have a swivel or something so you can point it at something simply and quickly? Probably, but hell if I know what button or combination to push. I still haven't figured out how to keep the SRV from lurching around after I've come to a stop, so I prefer not to drive it at all. When I look for lifeforms to scan, I WALK to them. It's much less frustrating than fighting with SRV controls. Oh, and if I walk too far from my ship (a mistake, probably), the damn thing takes off without me and leaves me stranded on the planet surface. I guess I could recall it, but... how? What button do I push to bring it back? Frontier doesn't tell me. So, if I happen to be high up on a cliff, the easiest thing to do is to jump off and commit suicide. So, I don't mine because I don't know what controls to use... I don't fight other ships because I can't maneuver too good or set the guns up properly... I don't filter out non-scoopable stars, but I don't run out of fuel either because I have three huge tanks and a big fuel scoop to keep them full with. Yeah, I was pledged to some Imperial lady, but I wasn't doing anything for her because I had other priorities; now I'm pledged to Zachary Hudson, but only so I can gain some Federation rank and visit Earth for the first time in 7 years. As for those pips... well, I still accidentally press my pip buttons when I just want to manueuver the ship a little. But since all I really need is an engine boost when I'm landing on some planet, I pretty much leave them alone. Anyway, I would do more if I knew how to do them. Maybe instead of simply telling your viewers WHAT to do, you could spend a few seconds telling them HOW to do things, too. Heck, even Frontier could do that... probably.

God, i love the depth of this game. A shame im only now getting into it. I hope they dont shut the servers down and end support any time soon lol.

I just got my 2nd ship (hauler) and enjoy the game so much I already bought a HOTAS (X52) and set up my Quest 2 (already owned) for PCVR. Its probably the best VR game I've tried.

Nobody ever talks about the two obsessions. 1) Making tons of money. 2) Making huge jumps thus increasing range. Why? Why are these so, so important to so many players? It's like they want to get to the end of the game. I hate to break it to you, but there is no end to this game. I'm enjoying tootling around in my Cobra. Meanwhile CR are slowly piling up in my safe. (Or is it all in my mattress?) Why do I need to take big jumps? I'll miss so many interesting systems. Oh well, to each his own. If money and speed are what it's all about to you, go for it.

Anyone know of a good 3rd party tool for PS4 Commanders?

I recommend the traditional mnemonic - "Oh be a dear guy, kiss me!" because it also lists them in order from hottest to... well, still very hot, it's a star, but less so. Handy when you would rather not overheat, you know to prefer K or M

Regarding route plotting - the navigation pinpoints the system you should refuel at before continuing, would it be because of very low fuel or not having it enough for the next few jumps through unscoopable systems. By excluding the unscoopable systems, you are just going the longer way everywhere.

Power play is one part of Elite Dangeorous that TheYamiks absolutely hates. Awful game design and your are better off not using it.

Realizing this video is 2 years old, but of interest to newer players is that EDDB is no longer operational. Someone IS working on a replacement, but I'm not sure if it's up and running yet, or if it will be by the time someone sees this.

I dont know. i did now ALOT of farming. engeneered atlest 4 ships (5 loadouts) all modules up to grade 5. And that Engeneering material farm, thats is actualy what make me wanna stop. Just do regular Missions for Engeneering Materials, atlest for those you normaly go to the Trader. Its not that devestating like those farms, and you gain rep as well as money, if you do this farm you end up with going to farm money solo and then at the end you end up missing rep aswell. so at the end your doing 3 diffrent farms, what you could to in a single run. Another thing is. when you do this method as anyone does. you do it once and then never again. with my methos im gathering materials all day, slowly, and i dont have to go search for it. It is waaaay more comfortable then those Farming methods. thats almost killd me to carry on.

One thing I noticed with the ( stuck in SRV ) none Horizons has a smaller material inventory and I lost a ton of farmed mats, this was several years ago so if anybody with a second or testing account can verify then it should be noted.

Oh my gosh, finally a tutorial that actually explains how to play this damn game. Lol Why can't the developers tell newbies this from the beginning? And the other tutorials are so convoluted like this game isn't convoluted enough. There have been times I almost quit this game because there are no explanations or help. The only thing that made me come back was that I spent a good amount of money on Meza mounts and my HOTAS setup. Anyways, thank you for this tutorial. I need tutorials that explain more in depth like I'm a 5 yr old. Or like I'm a new player? Lol SMH at Frontier who has been developing this game for how long again? And doesn't update their tutorials or help out new players. And the fact that other players need to do what Frontier won't. Like the Fuel Rats.

Comat isnt that deep. Its just fly around and shoot. Just point and shoot. It's all about how many ships there are and how good the modules are. Pretty bare bones unless you are fighting in a asteroid belt or something.

Make the credits to buy what you need and are going to need before you pledge or you will just have to do it again . Do it right don't do it twice. Take your time and sort out your credits at least half way before your first pledge then make the rest while you are pledged . The credits thing is the biggest mystery to new players and now that the " gold " rushes are slim to none put on your thinking caps and get this right. This is my opion and some of those are wrong ...... some times . o7

What would REALLY be nice is filtering the scoopable stars to just on last (adjustable) 5ly to 20ly prior to max allowable jump range. This would open up many more stars for exploration along the way.

I will argue about #12. Power play is mostly combat-oriented. As an explorer you are defensless and useless against other commanders. They are, probably, engineered to the teeth and will take you down quicker than you could deploy your hardpoints. If you, however, want to power play as an explorer, then you absolutely MUST KNOW what you re doing otherwise you risk losing all your long journey data in a matter of seconds.

I suspect that filtering your route through only scoopable stars is a habit these veterans got into when they were brand new, and they just never realized how unnecessary it is. Unless you're piloting something akin to a Sidewinder (and the KGBFOAM/OBAFGKM filter is good for total beginners), you should have enough fuel in your tank for at least three jumps. In my experience, the likelihood that your unfiltered route will take you through three unscoopable stars in a row is astronomically low, and I don't think I've ever seen four-in-a-row.

But it's not even a matter of chance. Every time you engage your hyperdrive, a notification is displayed in your upper-right panel telling you exactly what kind of star to which you're about to jump. If you only have enough fuel for one more jump, pay attention to this notification and cancel your jump if you're about to jump to an unscoopable star. Worst case scenario: Once every couple of years you'll have to open up your map and make a short detour to refuel.

In return for giving up this filter, you get shortest possible routes* and much more variety during your travels. You'll see the beautiful purple lighting of brown dwarves and even be surprised by a neutron star on occasion! I'm currently running a stripped down Mamba with an 8-ton fuel tank (tiny) and a 40ly jump range, so I only get 3 jumps per tank. But I've never been close to being stranded, because I pay attention to the star to which I'm jumping, and I top off my fuel at reasonable intervals.

*No idea why Exigeous called the scoopable filter "efficient plotting", since it's exactly the opposite. You're sacrificing efficiency and variety, locking yourself out of huge and beautiful portions of the galaxy, for the sake of not having to pay any attention to your fuel. Count me out!
