Damn didn't know mobas were a mod... Literally the BIGGEST games in history spawn from some chump making a mod for another game.. It's actually insane that these huge ass companies can barley do that lol

Without chess mechanic it would just be a card game. Positioning your units is part of the strategy.. That's absent in deck games

It took 5 f-ing minutes to say game mods created by fans can be a huge hit... then just blabbering on for another 5 mins about breaking down the mechanics...which is...RNG is awesome and gives a lot of choices and allow players to show more tactics... and...says Hearthstone lacks strategy and it's luck dependent.

Fyi, you put A LOT more strategy in your HS deck than randomly drawing from a pool based off luck. I'm assuming you're creative enough to make your own deck instead of googling one. Fyi, TCG and CCG (or HS) are all about building a synergizing deck that wouldn't give you "dead" turns.

Auto Chess or Auto Battler has some strategic or tactical choices when you're given a new "hand" each turn. You can even go for early game or late game. Early game = spending more, hoping to win more. Late game = saving more, possibly losing more. You can even build your team so that you barely lose. It's easier to lose than win. Just don't lose too many life points and you can get more bonuses via interests and losing streak than winning.

But those kind of decision is in HS too. The difference is the f-ing RNG. You always get a different hand. You always have to gamble on something.

You heard me. This game is addictive and fun because it's a huge f-ing gamble, or casino. You pick a character. Do you keep at it for 3 stars? Or swap for bonuses? Do you aim for bonuses or try for a well balanced team? Well, you can't make any f-ing educated guess. It all depends on a f-ing RNG. I can save up 80 gold, ranked 2nd and just missing 1 single green/blue piece to make a 3 stars character but still fail after refreshing 40 times.

It's boils down to the same slot machine mechanics when you try to refresh for something.

And yes, you can have strategies toward it too, micromanage gold to be the most efficient.

Yeah, you can literally win via luck. 1 game, I got so many Warwicks, I made him 3 stars easily. I was also able to drop life steal, attack speed, healing and revival items. He just wrecked and trolled everyone. At others, you can get nothing related every turn and only have a bunch of 2 stars. Best I can do is arrange for the best bonuses. But again, you gotta pray to the f-ing RNG.

And I failed. Then I play again because my luck cant be that bad.

Fyi, that's a gambler's mindset.

All in all, I tried like 6 different Auto Battlers. Teamfight Tactics has the most strategy as Riot added other mechanics to try to balance the RNG, like the freebie with equipment you can grab every few turns. Auto Chess is the most fun, especially the Fantasy (random rules) mode. The rest are mehhhhh.

Many Warcraft 3 mods have potential to be the next auto chess. Like legion td, castle fight, or ZJZ(a Chinese made mod similar to CF with much better quality and economy system). If any company try to make those mods into real games, it will become rich, it's like low effort easy money.

Mods are where experimentation in the very foundation of game genres flourish. Modders do what professional studios view as too risky and unappealing. They're the ones who throw the shit at the wall until something sticks.

And yet modding support is falling by the wayside in gaming these days. Despite ALL the most popular genres of esports being born out of them. It's really unfortunate.

All games when they are new have that element of false choice but once it has been out for a year people figure out how to maximise the game and if you aren’t playing like them you get left behind

I see lots of people talking about magic the gathering drafting. Is no one going to mention that Slay the Spire is basically build around the drafting thing? It's a dungeon crawler but also a card game so it is pretty much the definition of draft mode. You get the basic idea of what character too play but then you adapt based on your relic and card drops throughout the run.

autochess is so long, boring, and has no wow or fun moments. The only input by a player is a few seconds of selecting one or two things at the start of a round and thats it.. everything else is done for you..this genre will be dead af .
Its like hearthstone arena bu you just sit and watch the cards being played until there is a winner LOL.

But a meta will form. It always will. Prioritize units that appear as makes sense and hope your opponent doesnt get a more optimal line up.
At the time of this video Im sure the game was exciting but like always this game will be mostly solved. The only up swing is that no player has to depend on 4 team mates to enjoy the game.

The main problem IMO is that you can't control your units/champions... Card games do have RNG but not at the level TFT has... let's take yugioh for example. There is some sort of RNG in the sense that you not always draw the card you need or your starting hand might not be as good. But the game has a lot of searching cards that help players to get the cards they need for their combos, on top of that you have access to the extra deck, cards that don't need to draw. In addition, you can have a side deck to help you counter specific combos or archetypes during matches. All this helps to reduce the RNG... oh and on top of that, you are in full control of your monsters all the time, you decide when to activate their effects; which monsters to attack or defend; you have access to spells and traps and hand-traps (most of them searchable in many archetypes) that can turn the table in your favor; heck even the graveyard can help you to protect your cards or increase consistency. Whereas in TFT you get a random set of champions; random items; you cannot even see (or at least I haven't figure out how) which opponent are you going against so you can prepare your unit formation, and then you have to hope that your brain-dead units focus the right target or decide to use their abilities. Is sad because I think this game would be massively improved if 1- you could control your units or at least decide when to cast an ability, and 2- if there was a shop where you could buy the items you need...

There's actually a card game genre called "deck building". These are mainly physical though. The only popular right now AFAIK in a digital form is Slay the Spire but this one is a solo affair. In deck building games, players usually start with the same small deck of around 10 cards. There's a common pool where they can buy different cards from (each turn) to add them to their deck forming an unique deck as the game goes by. That's a different experience every time and it's fun to follow what deck your opponents are making. The Auto Chess genre reminds me a lot of that feeling that I get from playing physical deck builders :)
