Iron Mike Sharpe was just someone who went “No no no no” all day… it was hella funny when we were kids anyway. I wish I could’ve shown my dad Monster #2. I suspect whoever played him was hard of hearing and just did his best to power through. Probably Akeem and Bastion Booger were the cringiest ones to me growing up.

Almost any gimmick could work, provided you give it to a wrestler who actually likes it and develops it in their style.

Please tell me that 90% of these awful ideas came from Vince Russo and Vince McMahon.

They didn’t “make the decision to turn him babyface,” they fired Matt Bourne forcing them to change things up with the character to be pulled of by different people.

The fact that I can see potential in some of these is ridiculous. Hell, in the manga and anime, Kinnikuman, one of the wrestlers is a Nazi. Broquen Jr. He did it much better than whatever the other guy was doing, actually wearing the outfit and being a ruthless fighter. Naturally, this was toned down significantly in more modern appearances, but still. Way better than that red and black spandex abomination. No, i dont want a Nazi wrestler. Im just saying the idea was almost purposely lazy, most likely just meant to be a mark that they pretend to push to make the real hot shots look even better

The Klansman angle though? That's just straight up horrible and was totally just done because his opponent was black

Good part of Kerwin White: A) they ended it. B) the WWE universe was introduced to Dolph Ziggler. Bad part of Kerwin White: the main reason they scrapped the gimmick was due to the death of Chavo's uncle Eddie.

I completely disagree about the fake Undertaker. That was one of the coolest storylines of that time. For a while people did really think that was the real Undertaker turning heel because he looked and wrestled exactly like the undertaker. I remember how hyped we were to see the Undertaker vs. Undertaker match.

I am not sure if you should include him ,but you left Sgt.Slaughter of the list.....His gimmick was to dress like a Drill sargeant from the U.S. Marines.

People wonder why the 90s were filled with wrestlers with jobs. I think it’s due to the cultural impact of 80s cartoons. Look at the GI joe cartoon series for example- it’s filled with characters that have day jobs. A cowboy, a mechanic, a sailor, a computer programmer etc
