I've been wanting to read from this author, I think I'll start with this one since it feels like a standalone. great review!
ОтветитьDan Abraham wrote an Evil Dead book? Cool!
... what? You know, Ash. The Evil Dead guy.
Im sold because you said it works as a standalone. I really need that if Im going to invest in a series
ОтветитьHello, how do I get in contact with you as to reviewing my sci-fi book? I am not on Twitter or Facebook. Thank you. Love the channel
ОтветитьLove your channel! I've been looking at possibly reading Age of Ash. Thank you for the review, well done.
Ответитьthis story only sort of works as a stanalone. To me, it feels exactly like a first book from Abraham. while it is good, it takes 50% of the book to pick up, and the book has a lot of set-up for the next books. There are many plot threads and questions that aren't answered/wrapped up, not in the name of "cheap cliffhangers," but for the sake of the interwoven narrative Abraham is setting up. Abraham is amazing at intentionally making the first book better with the sequels. Shadows in Summer, book 1 of the Long Price Quartet is this way.
Abraham's books are meant to be experienced all together in order to see the affects of everything this man plans. Definitely doesn't deserve three stars.
I sound like an "Age of Ash" troll, but I believe this book was published based on Abraham's reputation/maketability rather than on the merits of the book. Will I buy the next installment of this series? Yes, with reservations. The last hundred pages or so of the book seem to be taking us somewhere, and very little was resolved by book's end.
ОтветитьThe book meant to be chapter 1 of 3 and the next 2 books are plan to tell the same story of a city full but from different povs That Was the plan from the start I hear about this book 3 or 2 years before it came out and I know all about This
