this is the closest sbr that ive seen to almost qualifies to me to be a “pistol” but its still not a pistol its a shorty carbine or something. a pistol feeds from inside of the grip and imo has a cocking slide

The part of me that loves old-timey late 19th/early 20th century cowboy-to-WWI gun mechanisms kind of thinks that hinged upper is boss, even if it would be far less functional than just having a detachable magazine.

man, i think this would be perfect with a bottom fed stripper clip system
the magazine would have a locking mechanism in the spring and 5 holes (or 10 if its a 10 round clip, which would be optimal) on the top, make it double sided for ambidextrous use of the magazine, so you can put the cartriges in and pull the guide from the clip, load it 3 times, unlock the magazine and fire, sounds a bit complicated but it actually takes weight of the gun by just removing a piece of the magazine and adding a pin to lock the spring
