Thanks for all your help! What is the name and where can I get one of the wood racks holding your balls?
Ответить👍
Ответить4/14/25 -- Hello! These are fantastic drill ideas!💡 These will help me with many aspects of my game! Thank you so much! 😊👍
ОтветитьThank you for this. I’ve always wanted to get better and now with this I will practice to be better.
ОтветитьYes, I found it to be very helpful. Thank you.
ОтветитьI started your drills today working on spot to spot. I made it a goal to get to 10,........8 is my record so far. Thanks for these.
ОтветитьWhat's size pool table you have?
Ответить..very good stuff..
ОтветитьVery useful drills - thank you for sharing. I have a tournament next weekend and people are expecting me to finish last (of about 80 players). I will practise these drills all week and hopefully I won't embarrass myself! 😅
Ответитьthe spin to spot is super challenging! thank for this
ОтветитьGREAT TRAINING VIDEO.
ОтветитьHi Ron, just curious if you had any kind of training pattern when you first got your table at home? Like straight in shots on Monday, bank shots on Tuesday kind of thing? I'm certain that I'll be using this video a lot in the future. Thank you for making it!
Ответитьi wish I had a table to practice on
ОтветитьGood Drill!
ОтветитьInspiratif
ОтветитьDrill 5 was a fantastic drill! Thank you Ron!
ОтветитьWhat does B player mean? What handicap would that be?
ОтветитьNice video Ron. Commitment, Commitment, Commitment is key. If you aren’t practicing drills you’re missing out on so much. I keep a Task List in my cellphone so I’m focused and more disciplined in my practice when I go to the pool hall. Then play races to 5 or 10 with a good player to simulate competing on league night 🎱
ОтветитьYou have made me a greater player. Drills are awesome.
ОтветитьFantastic video … especially for me ( a beginner ). Question … is that a 7 foot table?
ОтветитьThese are great! Thank you so much!!
ОтветитьGreat video Ron 👍 practice with purpose is huge. I always just go to pocket balls so this is very helpful for me. Thank you
ОтветитьBack again. I’m having a hard time seeing the difference between exercise #2 and #3. What is the difference? Also, I was getting pretty discouraged after yet another tournament where though I feel I played position way better, I wasn’t making the shots, sinking the balls. I realize I have to stop trying so much position play and go back to what you show here (and in your other video with three drills “with purpose”. Going to start with the three drills first then when I feel I make 80% or more of the shots, go on to these here, some are the same, but taking once step at a time.
I find the mental aspect is more than I realized. I find myself faced with shots where I think “I can’t do that shot with more than 40 or 50% success” and of course, that means I have to rethink my practice routine. I need to be confident with the shots you show in these exercises. I need to KNOW I can shoot an angle shot on an object ball at the second diamond, into the corner and also draw the cue ball back instead of adjacent or front. Finding long slight angle shots were suddenly gone from my skill set, even though I thought I had them “nailed”. Suddenly was way off. Anyway, these exercises are the core of being able to move on and play well. I’m convinced. Thank you again. As an older guy relearning pool (hopefully the right way this time) I find your videos absolutely some of the best out there for me!
Great stuff!
ОтветитьI would love to see a video from you about realistic practice expectations. Since taking up pool again I find I am almost obsessed, but end up playing about two and a half hours at least five days a week. In the beginning I showed lots of improvement because I was so bad at everything, but then it settled down to a plateau, where I felt stagnant. Then suddenly ratcheted up my “game” a good deal, but the next day I’d be back where I was. Steady improvement though in the end.
But, I’m realizing a lot of drills, and instruction are actually pretty advanced, and I tend to get my expectations up and try to do too many new things. Tried the continuous spot object ball drill, it was eye opening. I guess what I’m getting at, from now on I think I’m going to plan each practice with NEVER more than three different goals. I have that drill now as one, where I will keep track of the count of how many I can do in a row. The second thing is just plain working on draw shot control (including stop shots and stun shots with low hit on the cues ball) and then a book I have with exercises.
This even may be too much, I’ll figure that out. It may be that I ought to simply devote the 2 hours to ONE exercise, and then the half hour extra…just play and see what effect it has on my playing.
But would love to hear your take on taking on too many goals at once. I’m also considering going WAY more basic and simply setting up the same three balls (as you also show as a practice thing) and really predicting/controlling where the cue ball goes.
I get a little confused sometimes also on when you have a fairly long shot at an object ball, to make the cue ball really hit three or so rails when one uses follow or draw. That is a big question mark for me.
It would be more helpful if you showed where you hit the cue ball. I am 81 and haven’t played in about 45 years. I used to be a fairly good shot maker but never knew the effects of spin on the object ball. I now have been trying to improve for about 4 months. I like your videos and think I could learn from them.
ОтветитьI've been doing a variation of #6.
Cue ball in the center table rectangle.
Cue ball to end rails only.
No side rails.
Great drills, I have been looking for this! Thanks
ОтветитьHey Ron, I found your vids back last fall when I was just starting back. This last season I was on a couple teams for league. After being gone since 05. People always comment on how smooth I have become. I took 4th in my division last weekend at a huge tournament. Thanks for your help. I was able to get my csr score up to 1615 this year. Next season it will be over 1700.
ОтветитьExercise nr 2 for me.
Min. 2 hours with this exercise every two or three days had made my game at least 50% better. My stroke is smoothe, positional play way better. With this exercise i learned cut angle with inside ENGLISH,cue deflection.
Great Viedo Ron. Drills definitely make you better. Real good information
ОтветитьLove it Ron
ОтветитьUnsure the difference between ex 2 and 3…other then you are trying to position cue ball back to center of table
ОтветитьI practice drills all the time at my local pool hall, people look at me like I'm crazy!!!! I feel this is the best way to improve your game overall.... I wouldn't trade my practice routines for anything.... i appreciate you sharing. Several of these drills you perform is what I use. All your drills develop consitency, confidence and a no fear attitude when playing a match or league play..... I just don't get nervous, I recognize the shot or shots and play like I'm shooting drills shots..... Thank you
ОтветитьGreat video Ron! thanks
ОтветитьSaludos desde Ecuador 👍
ОтветитьI don't know if this helps me or if it's just voodoo but I put the 8,9, and 10 ball in all my drills just to help me not choke
ОтветитьGreat content as usual. As a bigger player, it would be more helpful if you add position spots😃 on the cue ball. Thanks!
ОтветитьAnother good video, Ron. Thanks...
ОтветитьDude! This video is straight FIRE! GOOD JOB!
ОтветитьAny tutorial for spot shot. Struggling with this shot for last few weeks.
ОтветитьIm going to do all 7 for a week ..and chart my results..with a reasonable goal at first..then gradually increase it..
ОтветитьWonderful instruction Ron! Thank you!
ОтветитьAnother great video! Bought my Diamond Table close to 2 years ago and i find myself now just throwing balls on the table endlessly which is fun and i can do for hours but I dont think i am improving as much.. Although i focus on my stroke which is so much better. I need big help with positioning.
ОтветитьGood video Ron! I think today most players are overwhelmed with drills and not really sure how they should be practicing. These drills seem practical and conducive to actual gameplay. Thanks 👍🏻
ОтветитьAnother great drills. Doing the migthy X that I saw in your previous vid. Thanks so much for the lessons.
ОтветитьThanks, coach... my wife has been really sick... we spent the last couple of nights in the hospital... as soon as I can get back to the table, I'm going to work on these drills. The goal is to go from an average pool player to a good pool player. 🎱
ОтветитьAwesome video ron! Thanks for all you do!
