Just all the electrics around our homes and offices are emitting as well. Our headphones and earbuds, low power but long duration. How much time people really spend in their car. And what about the fumes from ICE and thermal generation power stations ?????

Ghost hunters misuse EMF detectors. So my logical conclusion is that Teslas have more ghosts than regular cars.

I also wondered about dental X-rays. Then I read the notice/poster in my dentist's office which pointed out how tiny the radiation from a dental X-ray was compared to an hour on an ordinary commercial plane flight. And think how frequent fliers, much less career commercial pilots would be dropping LIKE FLIES from cancers if that were a problem. Hell, living in Boulder at about a mile above sea level exposes one to SIGNIFICANT amounts of radiation annually compared to a dental X-ray. It's because the air is thinner, blocking somewhat less cosmic radiation.

It would be good if our society chose slightly more education, including science education, instead of blanching at whatever NONSENSE flat earthers, anti-vaxxers, etc. want to babble at us.

Sounds to me like your both not very knowledgeable on EMF information. As an Electrical Engineer, I question both of your investigations on the subject of EMF dangerous levels. Elon makes a good point but his comments do not tell us much about the dangers of EMI generated by EV's. EV motors are driven by Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) power which include high speed voltage and current transitions that radiate a lot of high frequency radiation from the power connections from the battery. Often, capacitors help to mitigate the radiation by "tightening the EMF loop" of these high frequency components, reducing the ultimate radiated energy levels. I have not seen any serious issues for EV's regarding this radiation but I have not seen any serious investigations regarding the possibility of ill effects.

I certainly wouldn't let a pregnant woman sit in a charging ev
or above the battery when it is discharging at a high rate when slot of motor power is called for
when full power is called for I would keep extended limbs as far away the regions of the car , or sitting above or near , or placing them close to the motors that power the vehicle when they are operating with a high current draw [full power etc]
shielding exists of course, its highly unlikely to mitigate risk in those circumstances
proximity is impossible to mitigate in the footprint of a moving vehicle , I just hope the exposure quantities n duration we will experience in ev don't eventually corrolate to noticeable very adverse medical outcomes.
reality speaks to it not looking that good in the medium to long term especially for vulnerable persons

I like how these guys just throw out numbers without knowing what any of them mean. p.s. sunlight is EM radiation too. All light is. Just generally at a very high frequency. And heat ... aka infrared, that's EM radiation too, at lower frequencies (but still much higher than typical device-generated RF). Both many, many orders of magnitude more powerful than anything that would ever be produced by an EV, or any regular electronic device, or even any appliance.

In anycase, for regular EMF from devices, power levels decrease by the square of the distance, so unless you are sidled up against a 750kV transmission line, most general EM radiation sources can simply be discounted. When we get into earbuds and cell phones, those are much closer to your skin and generally contain actual transmitters (cell, bluetooth, or wifi). But power levels are very low and the frequencies are typically below 5 GHz, so any energy hitting you will just be turned into heat at skin-depth. These sources are non-ionizing (insufficient energy to knock electrons out of atoms).

Things that cannot be discounted are, of course, ultraviolet light sources (low-energy ultraviolet is not ionizing but can still be damaging), and ionizing EM radiation such as X-Rays, gamma rays, and high-energy ultraviolet.

Non-EM radiation is a different beast entirely., Nuclear radiation such as Alpha particles (helium atom stripped of its electrons), Beta particles (high energy electrons or positrons), and also free neutrons (as a nuclear byproduct... short-lived on its own), and protons (solar wind), can be very dangerous.

Both of those guys are idiots, but Musk is mostly right. One guy died from lung cancer four years later and a half dozen workers had a stint with cancer but have all survived. 30 some others were treated with radiation burns.
The radiation from a car would be about the same as your phone. Manufactures don't want these things getting in the way of the car and natural shielding is applied. The same can also be said for an ICE vehicle, as they don't want it screwed up by a major powerline or transformer. it is everywhere

I propose the following: Do a study that compares the effects of the following… which is worse? Inhalation of ICE car exhaust vs. any radiation that may be consumed by a BEV. If you look at large metropolitan areas with many ICE vehicles you will find a population that has an increased rate of death. Mexico City has 5.9% of deaths related to air pollution from trucks and ICE cars.

Zackly, for EMF, the most important consideration is the wavelength/frequency. Basically, any wavelength below visible light is non-ionizing, so it won’t affect the processes of biochemistry. The only effect it can have is heating upon absorption, like in a microwave oven, which has EMFs in the kilowatt range. What we’re talking about here is more in the milliwatt range, like 100,000 to 1,000,000 times lower intensity. Also, remember that there are strong regulatory limits upon EM interference, especially at the RF level, and no electronic gadget can be sold if they don’t meet those regulations.

Sir, radio waves cellular waves amongst the many other radio waves that there are out there or other waves that are out there will set off a EMF reader..... Btw this is for everyone. Just don't show up at someone's front door. Not knowing that person or somehow getting a hold of that person through email, messenger, phone, text message, some sort of way just don't show up at nobody's house. You're in violation that way. Understandable. You're just stopping by to say hi so look at it like this. If the police came to his house or to the person's house that you went to unannounced and you're not originally from that area there's a problem there cuz the first thing they going to ask you is how'd you get that gentleman or person's address if you never spoke to that person so please just don't show up at someone's house unannounced.

There was a big hoopla about the dangers of EMF back in the '80's. It was rubbish then and it still is. About 20 years ago P, G & E introduced their wireless 'Smart Meters' and there was a small but fanatic resistance by people who claimed they caused headaches, might cause cancer, disturbed their sleep, etc, etc. There's really no limit to what a poorly educated person will believe.

The bottom line is, EVs are still relatively new and the available data cannot support any conclusions. I for one am not willing to sit literally on top of a massive high voltage battery, in a makeshift faraday cage, with all kinds of EMFs, electrical fields, AC/DC DC/DC etc etc happening. I see a lot of people say only ionizing radiation is harmful, which is not entirely true as non-ionizing, and in EVs the ELFs are potentially harmful and carcinogen as well. Why rush into EVs and be part of the data, when you have a choice for tried and tested ICE cars, for now.
