Great video, as always! Still haven't found a JLC series C&O H7 yet?
Ответить👍👍👍💯
ОтветитьGreat Find on those Brass Water Spouts!
When are you going to add some RUST detailing? I dont see anything with rust???
Always good to see your layout.....maybe inspire me to get some real work done on mine! Thx
ОтветитьHey wake up guys! norm dropped a new "chronicles of norm" episode!
ОтветитьJust some advice if your going to do more brass painting. The best stuff to use to get of the blemishes is laquer thinner because most of the clear coats are laquer based so it might make it easier
ОтветитьMost likely clear coated to prevent corroding , these brass kits tend to sit around on shelfs for decades sometimes. Great looking spouts Norm, I have a diecast one from MTH looks pretty similar(maybe a touch bigger though)
ОтветитьNorm, I went through my Pennsy CE13 blueprints and the Water Columns that you picked up are pretty close to the Pennsy designs. There are some very minor differences but they will work for what you are modeling.
Keep up the good work.
Nice spouts, Pennsy had a set
about 3 miles from my House
on the line thru Frankton and
Elwood Indiana!!! Great work
Norm!!!
Big improvement on the turntable great job
ОтветитьHope ok ask question, new to site, suggestion for brand of “ grimy black” wash paint. If not apologize. Thanks for sharing your work, outstanding learning experience for me.
ОтветитьI would leave them alone theyre suppose to be brass just weather them that's all they need theyre pretty as they're just weather them
ОтветитьTruly, the only 3 rail layout that is worth watching. The layout is so damn beautiful that I don't even see the 3rd rail anymore. An absolute gem of a railroad and always interesting to see and hear Norm dial this thing into perfection.
ОтветитьNice work Norm! Really like how you break it all down. Inspiring!
ОтветитьI noticed on your original water columns, that the chain and handle hung down far enough to where a yard man might be able to reach it. However, on the new ones, the chain and handle are not hanging down as before. Of course, it doesn't detract one bit, but just something I noticed.
EDIT: Nice job on the turntable upgrade.
I will always sit in awe of the realism of your layout! I watch thinking is it real or just models, so realistic I’m all in. I am starting my journey have picked out a space and a few road names bought some trains and track. I’ve figured out my layout. I’m going to have to put up some walls and lights and electric before I put up the tables but I’m starting from scratch, bare bones. So one day I hope to be 1/10 as good as norm!
ОтветитьI really don’t think any other layout, regardless of scale, quite captures the feel of late era steam railroading like this one
ОтветитьAnother fantastic video. I was fortunate enough to have become the caretaker of a beautiful roundhouse and turntable from a 2 rail layout. It has a New York railway PTC indexing system, which I heard is a very well designed control setup. Changing your board significantly improved alignment. What a great layout and appreciate you sharing your skills. My only draw back in the 3rail world was how all steam locomotive chuffs sound all the same. Which I'm sure will change soon.
ОтветитьVery cool
ОтветитьAlways enjoy your videos
ОтветитьGreat stuff as always man!! A lil late… but happy New Year! Hope y’all are doing good. Need to get back up there. Hoping to do a trip this summer, will have to reach out once it’s planned/figured out. 🥃🍻
ОтветитьI just bought one of those water columns in S scale. There was one (still there) at Cumbres on the Denver & Rio Grande narrow gauge.
ОтветитьGreat video, Norm! The new water plugs are an awesome addition. And your turntable modification really turned out well. 3rd Rails B&O Big Six is probably my favorite locomotive of all time and I am not even a B&O modeler anymore, lol! Fantastic job, Norm! Bill B.
ОтветитьNice video! Really enjoyed just messing around. The turn table speed looks just right. The one in Conway,PA Is about the same speed. It's incredible to watch 400,000 pounds or more spin around!
ОтветитьGreat work on the facility. I have the HO kits, and they are beautiful. Currently working on my engine facility while watching. Been following since your debut on TM Books and Video lol
ОтветитьBeautiful stuff, Norm! ❤ I was born in Chicago in 1950, and have memories, from my earliest childhood, of steam locomotives running through the city that still blow my mind! ❤
ОтветитьA new brushless rc motor should be quieter and faster.
ОтветитьFascinating tale about how you got all the details for your coaling tower. I used to be able to see the Grand Haven Tower from my window up until we moved. (Moving back to GH soon!) I always wondered about the holes in the side and I would've never guessed they could've been sand lines. Very clever.
Your channel has been an inspiration to me and I look forward to every video! Keep up the good work!
As much as I love your videos on the locomotives and rolling stock most, it's also really nice to see videos about the layout structure itself. Never thought about using the TMCC hardware to control a turntable, but honestly in many ways sounds more convenient to control everything from the remote system and a little less expensive. I'm also just realizing how long ERR discontinued the Cruise Lites in addition to the Mini Commanders and Sound Converters. Man...
Sidenote, I have seen a few 3-Rail Q4b's pop up, but none at particularly good prices.
Paint them grimy black - of course...the more depressing the better!
ОтветитьBeautiful work! - I think you have inspired me to weather some steam engines when I get back home from my week at the railroad...
ОтветитьNorm, the water columns look great. "I'm not sure what's under there." Well, it's concrete and rebar, of course! Thank you for sharing your fix-it day. I know making the videos doubles the effort, but we truly appreciate you letting us watch over your shoulder.
ОтветитьWatching you work on trains
Is like watching Picasso paint
And you told me at York
You're not a genius
Your knowledge is something else
