There is no way that it would be random to be wiped out by an asteroid. Think about it, humans existing wouldn’t of happened while dinosaurs roamed the earth so they had to be wiped out so humans could flourish, so whatever is “up there” pretty much sent the big rock to set a new timeframe into play.
