I think tamron‘s new zoom lenses, for example the 28-200 F2.8-5.6, for full frame Sony is sort of game changer in this field. It’s lightweight and superzoom, perfect for hikers.
ОтветитьInteresting video. As a purely still photographer, the new camera doesn't sound like a good trade off. For the price, I'd expect better picture quality. I admit my big Canon DSLR and L-series get heavy at times but for me I think I might go with the Canon mirror less system if I finally decide to save some weight. Maybe I'm just a Canon snob? 😉
ОтветитьGeneral Hux, is that you?
ОтветитьThomas being your using Fuji XT-3 camera, How large of usable print do you feel confident making with the XT-3?
Ответить55-200 lens isn't a WR lens. How it will perform in dust and humid condition
ОтветитьTried your 55mm and f/4 setting on the 18-55 on my X-T2 and was horrified at the result. Backed off to 48mm and improved somewhat, but your suggestion of not going past 35mm, from my tests, is a good one if you want to do serious landscapes. I also have the 55-200 and was disappointed on a recent trip at the results (soft on the top of the frame). Tests here at home showed that the softness is most apparent at about 100mm. 55mm is best (use the 55-200 instead of the 18-55 if you want 55mm focal length), but 200mm was also better than 100mm. This is all disappointing since I always thought Fuji made superior optics. Of course, maybe if you spend enough money......
ОтветитьI like your demeanor. I'll be back.
ОтветитьCame here to learn about gear but got a lesson on offering free wanks instead
ОтветитьI don't think I'm the first to say but you look like Domhnall Gleeson
ОтветитьHi Tom Heaton!! Welcome to Nepal..I also do Landscapes and aerial photography..please contact me in Nepal..My instagram is chrisshrestha70..Lets travel together
ОтветитьI can't understand the problem with the Anker PowerCore power bank. I've bought several Anker power banks of different sizes (for Christmas gifts and for myself). They all came with a charging cord. If yours didn't come with its own cord, then it should have been chargeable with a standard cord with the appropriate connectors (microUSB, etc.) If a special cord was needed, I can't believe they would sell a power bank without that cord included. That makes no sense at all.
Anker has a very good customer satisfaction program, at least here in the States. I would think you could tell them what happened, and they would make it good.
This Canadian wants to know what "Slag it off" means.
ОтветитьIs Monty able to go on the trails now? I'm thinkin' that you're missing the "human interest" opportunities that Simon Baxter cashes in on when shooting with Meg! 🤔 🤣 (It's like walkin' around The Hundred Acre Wood with Tigger for crying out loud! LOLOL)
ОтветитьFor landscape photography, I switched out my heavy lenses and DSLR for a simple, extremely light and sharp Nikon Z7 with a 24-200mm lens for most shots, a 14-30mm, and for special applications (e.g. nights) a 20mm F/1.8 or shallow depth of field, a 50mm F/1.8. The basics in a small package!
ОтветитьI agree that ANKER seems a bit dicey. Their remote speaker battery died right after the warranty ended. Useless, dead brick. Their solution? Buy another one. I complained quite a bit. Finally, their rep offered me a % discount which I used when the speaker was offered on lower price promotion, but you know, now that I got the replacement, I don"t trust it, so I never took it out of its shrink wrap.
ОтветитьI feel like the Fuji has way too many downsides to save a few pounds. 😨
ОтветитьA year late, but... Why not just stick a 64gb in both slots, record images and video on both, and never lose anything? Is it a limit of the XT3?
Personally, I stick a 256gb in both, images and video on both. Redundancy plus more storage than you ever need.
Update the fitmware, this will solve AF and battery performance
ОтветитьWent from Canon to Panasonic GH5 and G9 for similar reasons. Very happy with the move. Great lenses, great battery life, unbeatable video features and ability to go lightweight.
Ответить@Thomas how tall are you? I’ve got an Osprey Stratos 34, but looking to downgrade the size to 24 or 30L as I’m only 170cm tall. Any recommendation on a good top loading camera insert that goes well with the Osprey Stratos?
ОтветитьSo you bought a lighter camerasystem to be able to carry all that extra heavy stuff like the powerbank and the 360 camera?
ОтветитьCanon cameras are beatable. There are better sensors and lenses-slightly. But it's a matter of preference.
ОтветитьA wee bit off-topic maybe, but since you are talking about the hiking equipment, I would like to kindly ask you to let me know what is the model/make of the wrist watch that you are wearing, and what are your recommendations about "hiking watches" in general. Cheers!
ОтветитьThomas how was Exos 38? Was it enough when taking camping heard AND photo gear? Or it's better to get 48 version?
ОтветитьHeard many times that the 16-80 F4 kit lens is preferable to the 18-55 F2.8-4 kit lens
ОтветитьDid you consider sony
Reason for asking I'm looking to go my first digital I'm still shooting 35mm film with minolta MD and A mount gear.
2k pound is affordable - Thomas
Me looking at my bank account
Why didnt u just buy the DJI Osmo for u videos??? I think it will be much convinient to use for u vlogs..
ОтветитьSorry to hear about your disappointment with the XF 18-55 lens. I use the one that came as a kit when I bought my X-T20 camera last year and it is wonderfully sharp through out the focal range.
ОтветитьCould you explain why you did not take your Canon m50 instead of the new camera you bought?
Ответить50% of this video was you talking about why the fuji camera sucks 😂
ОтветитьNo gimbal and no video head, but a boom...
How about that really tiny and light basic fluid head from SmallRig? Or the tiny fluid head from Leofoto?
🥰
ОтветитьA moment of silence for 2020 prices when an Exos was only 100 quid 😁
ОтветитьI recently watched this video for the first time. Had to come back and thank you for ruining all 360 camera shots in everyone else's videos. LOL. Every single time I see someone else offering up wanks I can't help but laugh.
ОтветитьMaybe others have said this already, but there's no way you should need any special "plug" to charge the power bank. I would be checking the quality of the cable you were using and the quality of the wall wart. If you were charging from a cheap or slow USB charger, it might have been working correctly, but too slowly to be useful. For instance, a standard computer USB port will do 500mA of current. That means to charge a 26,000mAh battery it will take at least 52 hours. It's not a problem with the battery, it's simple physics.
ОтветитьHave I missed something, but doesn't the camera gear rattle around inside a hiking rucksack? How do you find anything amongst all the detritus?
ОтветитьMy powercore charges from 2 microusb plugs, it'll charge to full in about 6 hours (or 18 using a single plug) (at least it would but it's old now so it charges faster but doesn't hold as much)
ОтветитьMy setup is as follows: Fuji xe3, xf16f2.8, xf35f1.4, mini gorilla pod. Very light but i have a wide angle and a fast lens. For video I might add a go pro.
ОтветитьWow, I have no idea what you are doing with the XT-3 & lenses lol, I shoot with 18-135mm and it produces beautiful sharp pleasing images. I have been using Fujifilm for several years now no issues. Thank you for the video though, it was great.
ОтветитьI know what you mean with reducing kit weight
Ответитьhahahahahahaha omg
ОтветитьWith all of those gears, how do you pack it?
ОтветитьI prepare my hike in Nepal. I will bring my x-t3 with 7 batteries, my XF18-120mm, 55-200mm, and zeiss 12 mm f2.8.
ОтветитьI had to comment4 years later to say that your 18-55 lens is absolute garbage. I have the 18-55 and mine has absolutely nowhere near that level of poor quality at 55 mm. or any fl. I literally think you got a bad copy of that lens.
ОтветитьSo, you save weight and size BUT now you need to carry 10+ batteries... I have a similar experience. Tried fujifilm cameras for a while. For 3-7 days hiking I would need to keep 10-15 batteries (yes I bought a lot of them). After a while I decided to come back to my old, excellent nikon d610. Battery lasts for 1500+ shots. For the same 3-7 days mountain adventures I take 2 batteries (just in case). I'd say mirrorless are ok for 1-2 day hiking trips max.
ОтветитьFree w£%ks hahahahah woke the wife ui0 i laughed that hard. No pun intenteded 😅. I'm thinking of getting thr new x4 360. To help.
ОтветитьRegarding the image quality issue : definitely deactivate the OIS ! Common issue unfortunately, and obviously not the buyer's fault.
