How To Turn Off Read Receipts On iPhone

I have a contact that had theres on and mines off. How is this useful.

Incorrect. Mine is toggled off on both the Messages setting and the individual thread setting and it’s still showing read to the recipient. It’s a bug. Address that if you have a fix, pretty please.

So mine already said ‘off’ but I know at least one person I’ve been texting can see when I’ve read their messages still. How do I fix this??

The read receipts is for one person or all contacts on iphone?

What if they have an Android?

I have it off but all my contacts tell me it’s on.

Will they see if I’ve read there messages and can I see if they read mine. I don’t want them seeing I’ve read theres

yep same here mine read receipt is OFF but still most contacts say it Still shows when I read it ..sux if one does not have the time to respond till later

There are 2 locations to turn off read receipts, the one you showed and individual contacts. Open up a persons message and at the top, tap that persons name or pic. When it opens, you will see send read receipts. Make sure this is off. Not sure how this gets turned on.
