You should always see if clouds are stuck on the mountain before going up. I was lucky with a clear view 2h before you went up.

I suggest you choose to go to the island of Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Melaka to see Malay history and Cameron Highlands, famous for strawberries, you will definitely like it. Malaysia has many interesting places, beautiful islands and beautiful clean cities.
