My biggest problem with this presentation is actually the crowd.... I don't think ANY of those gooners cheering have a single DRIP of a clue that 1.0 is like 3 years out still lmfao.

I would prefer both interiors across the game and space stations. They CAN do both after they do Space Stations.

Folks I’m glad people are excited, but it ain’t coming out anytime soon. Not even in the next 5 years. Let’s just look at 42. It was “feature complete and in the polishing phase” a year ago, and we already know we have at a minimum 2 more years for a total of 3 years just to polish a single player narrative game. Those are way easier to develop than an mmo. We aren’t even within 3 years from getting all the features in testing much less polished and complete.

So tomato, what exact;y is exploration going to be with only 5 systems? All the old talk of deep, space ships that can go forever and make their own fuel to go to 5 systems? I am still confused at how they are ever going to make exploration interesting at all.

CIG will not comes out any of these unless they already have the frameworks in the works. Many things are already in development but they need Server Meshing to be realized for anything to move forward.

Quality of raw ressources seems really stupid to me. It might be good snd logical for some specialty ressources, but for stuff like gold or iron, it makes NO sense. The quality of such materials should be decided after refining. With most ores, its not quality, but purity that matters.

Itd be cool to have high cdf rep enabling live weapon permits in armistice zones. Criminals can maybe obtain (challengingly) jailbroken weapons that function in those zones. But if someones proven themselves with a high rep in cdf, they can be armed in safe space to help counter threats. And if the rep system works and its a grind to get to that point, then cdf members will likely not be griefers. And if they are at their first grief they have the permit revoked and need to clear their crime stat and re-earn rep. Making griefing with a cdf license pretty unwieldly, if its 1 grief per 20 hours of gameplay or something. If someones that dedicated to the ways of the griefer grief away

I feel that we're not going to see journalism in the game any time soon, or ever. It's just too big a target for trolls to get a reaction from people. The only way for it to be viable would be for players to submit their videos to a CIG moderator, and the moderator then broadcasts it inside the game. CIG is too busy making the more popular game loops to deal with that.

TBH, I think they can hit 100 systems, BUT it requires a LOT more time than the original scope planned. If they can do 3 to 5 systems a year in 10 years they would hit 30 to 50+... then in another 10 they would be near 60 to 100+... But in terms of TIME that depends on support and players continuing to play and fund the game.

With Insurance, taxes, and purchases I think they have a good chance to keeping things funded.

I bought my idris on the premise that I would be able to fill it with npc crew if I couldn't find a full 10 people. It was pretty disheartening that they paperweighted my $1400 ship until after 1.0. They did say blades would be in but who knows the drawbacks of that rather than just credits

I feel like they really misstepped with the citizenship thing. I can't remember who proposed it first, but I have heard of a free to play model for SC. It goes like this:

People who buy the game, you are a citizen, congrats. You can own a ship and have access to 100% of the game.

If you are f2p, you have access to 80% with owning a ship being one of those missince since you are a civilian. However, you can still raid, pvp, and even fly as part of an org, you just dont own the ship you fly. You as a civilian can become a citizen by purchasing the game and contributing to continued development.

This was to solve the too many captains not enough crew problem that will inevitably be in the game. AI crew and gunners can only be so good, so having a healthy f2p base to intermingle with those who've paid would be one way to do it and ensure a high player base and (relatively) high competency level of a players multicrew ship.

I'd imagine some would have issue with this system, but it is a pretty smart way to get the player base needed for the game to run well, advertise for a purchase of the game post launch, and encourage more player interactions.

Their definition of "greybox" seems to mean that they're just beyond the pre-production concepting phase. The models shown are likely the first passes of what will one day be in player hands but are still being textured, rigged, animated, and integrated with their proprietary toolsets... so pretty much just pretty looking shells with no dynamic systems associated with them yet.

What everyone misses period is how long game development takes....especially for a game of this scale...this is the scale they planned from the getgo and I knew it was gonna take them 20 years to complete...and rightfully so...the tech never existed anywhere to achieve something like this. Yes I am frustrated with how long it is taking BUT I fully understand the undertaking that is happening before our eyes and I am glad to support and be a part of something that isnt a re-skinned COD or Battlefield game...Im sick of trash games...and this game has already destroyed all other games for me because of the epic experience I get each time I log in. Over the years I've learnt to take everything he says with a grain of salt and maybe there is something to the micromanagement critique, but he still comes off as genuine to me. I think he's genuinely passionate about the game, wants it to be the best it can be and has always intended to deliver it, and I feel like this passion radiates from him whenever he talks about the game in public. The demo crashing on stage really seemed to rattle him.

They didn’t actually say that 100 systems isn’t the goal anymore. Just that 1.0 will start with 5. if they can then do 2 per year following 1.0 seems reasonable to me. Bear in mind 2 per year with most features being complete. So there can be a focus on content. Which is not yet possible.

Space Tomato you miss understand what He said about 1.0 its not endgame for Cig 100 star Citizen is their end game , his is just trying to explain how for the next 2 or maybe 3 years will be like Deeper flushed out Core 5 star systems Pre Sq42 because Sq42 drops like 4 other star systems but as the Panel is about 1.0 , Both of them said Clear as Day 1.0 is Beta so Beta is not going to have 100 star systems thats Clear Post Sq 42 will start dropping star systems left & Right , also & UEE only have 37 star systems , You just skipped over both Roberts 5 core systems 1.0 is Base Beta drop after sq42 drops more is coming you just dont link how they are talking its easy to miss i did that in the past under promise 5 star systems over deliver is now the boat cig is on , 1.0 seems 2 years away , due to how sq42 will not drop until 1.0 is at least 80% done , nyx done castra 2 planets , so now its terra so it means after terra , Earth sol systems

Losing things permanently is a necessity if you want a working economy in game. In EVE-Online the battles of hundreds, if not thousands of players created also a need to build a lot of ships and everything the ships need.

What dos GreyBox aka - These are the ship statuses that CIG uses. Whitebox is initial modeling, grey is done on modeling but has no skins, animations, sounds, LODs, etc , The Status Key:
Design
Concept
White Box
Grey Box
Final 3D Art
Animations
LODS
Tech Setup , its similar to ship steps , he said start of Q1 Base building it seems star Base building is a static location dont move so it will be far easier to make and pop out star base fast , 1 whole year of working on it seems to me it will be 1 or 1.5 years away , in length of pioneer timeline since pioneer will be tested thought 2025 and 2026 to be able to do all that so yes over all its just 2 years away since it was stated worked on 2024 Q1 that means pioneer will be out 2026 so alot of that groundwork will be done . have Faith

When I saw the 1.0 panel I was talking to some friends and said: Welcome to EVE 2.0 as this is basically just an evolution of EVE IMO. CIG stated for years that they don't want to have organizations controlling whole star systems and that they will hava Quanta/StarSim to regulate that and prevent organizations to grow to powerful and then they introduce a system where they exactly allow the winning organization to go all out onto other organizations for a full week without having to care about own defenses.

Also, that Castra, a UEE system is only reachable through Pyro and Nyx (with 1.0) is also a bit strange. I'm sure players will have to cross Pyro for various things, whether they like PvP or not. As such, they are forced then to partake in that activity. No matter what CIG wants to call it, it is a hardcore PvP game under the hood and no system they implement to protect PvE players will be enough. Look at what happened in EVE where basically a big orga invaded one of the oldest high-sec systems, where basically all of the trading occurred, and they blocked any exit to other star systems. They were literally that powerful that they obliterated any defense forces and even bagging of CCP games to back off to null-sec did not work. CCP games ultimately had to ban the whole organization in order to allow people to continue the game. With 1.0 there are simply not enough star systems available for all of the organizations we already have in game and there will be more than enough new ones coming in. Their desing of space station and that you can fight for them literally reminds me of EVE's Titan, that was so powerful that it had to be hidden in deep space to not gona risk it being raided during off-hours. If ultimately got raided due to some betrayal within the orga and by tricking the whole organization and using some login-issues. EVE is full of such dramas. CIG's planned system favors just the ultra-big cooporation with 50k+ members. Whoever has 6+ hours to spare, there is a really, really good video of the history of EVE from a players perspective here on YT that depicts the whole drama that was going on in EVE and how certain CCP decisions change the game in favor of some orgs over others, especially when employees are related ot those orgs. SC will have such stories to be written probably on a similar value as the core of both games is just to similar.

On spectrum I currently receive like 3-10 requests since CC to join various organizations and plenty of them think that 1.0 will be in 1-2 years and as such they are preppig up. When I stated that this 12-18 month were stated in regards to base building they play the typical ney-sayer card and call me a disbeliefer.

The pay to win comment. Paying $3000 for a giant clan sized battleship does not mean "you win" same with a heavy fighter. Star Citizen is kind of a rock paper scissors thing. For example a giant cargo ship can be taken out by a tiny squad of 50$ ships. And that cargo ship... say youre a rich dude. Well you dont win the trading game either. Because your starting funds wont be anywhere near enough to fill that ship. Youll actually lose money because of opperating costs. Fuel, damage, quantum fuel, ammo. Then you need to pay for excorts to drop the risk levels because its a giant target.... You see where this is going? And you have to pay crew too. Because while you can fly it alone... you cant opperate it alone.

A lot of peoole seem to see these exoensive ships and think thats insane... Both CIG and their backers will explain to you that that money isnt for that ship. Its a donation to the project. " i like this, keep going" and the ship is sort of a "thankyou heres a toy".

Most of the expensive ships arent meant for a single person either. Thare for groups of friends or giant orgs. Even the heavy fighter you saw on his first play stream, thats a 3 person ship, 4 in some varients. 250 for 3 people, thats 80 ish dollars. Which is akin to the collector's / decked out version of a AAA game.

All you need is 45$ for a base ship. Or 35$ during a sale. ALL ships are purchasable in game. And aUEC is easy to make a lot of in a short time. People buying ships are the share holders so to speak. They are the backers. They fund the game. If you wanna play and not fund it, buy a starter ship and just play. You dont need to spend money in the store to have fun. And I mean that. Ask chat for a party invite and just go. The community is amazing and many people if they know youre new, will just uand you millions of aUEC for free so you can enjoy your first few months.

Is is a finished game? No. But its been playable since 2013 in some capacity. And id say "fun" since 2015. And still fun today. Yes, its worth a look.

Free fly beguns at the end of November btw. And several others throughout the year.

I hope the rep system doesn't have factions being omniscient. If my only activity with one faction / guild is through (successful) covert spycraft and assassination, I shouldn't be losing rep with their opponent factions because they shouldn't know anything about my involvement. Similar to the comm array problem where the system SHOULD be dependent on fallible local system but instead simply knows all things unless taken down for whole swathes of space.
