It’s for a Kensington Security Slot
ОтветитьSine I What is 10
ОтветитьI knew
ОтветитьThese slots don't work if you really want whatever locked
ОтветитьHow the hell will you get them off
ОтветитьToo easy
ОтветитьUsually means a Kingston lock which allows you to secure the device with a metal cable to a desk etc.
That one isn't attached to anything inside the casing though, which means it's useless.
He sounds like korg
ОтветитьI honestly thought this was common knowledge...
ОтветитьKensington lock
Ответитьyou can put yer weed in there
ОтветитьIt's for a Kensington lock, it's used to lock it onto a table for conventions and displayd
ОтветитьKensington locks are more of a detterant then actual theft prevention. At work we had a kiosk machine which we sadly lost the key to the lock. Took less then 5 seconds to pop the lock out of the "secure" slot. I suppose the security improves if the device manufacturer takes the structual integrity of the slot into consideration.
ОтветитьHhmmm I didn’t know till I found out either. We both didn’t know until we found out
ОтветитьThe Kensington lock is only really designed to prevent casual theft. The lock is deliberately stronger than the case of the device where it is mounted, so just trying to snap or twist it off, or cut it off with a hacksaw blade will cosmetically damage the device.
The lock has 3 pins in a row which fit into the slot, the outer two pins prevent the lock from being rotated in the slot (they may also be hardened, I’ve never tried to cut them). The middle pin is longer and is T shaped about the width of the slot, when locked the T rotates 90° to keep it in the slot.
The lock is on the end of a cable with a loop at the other end, the idea being to put the cable around or through something fixed or heavy (radiator, desk cable hole, etc), pass the lock through the loop then attach it to the device. The cable is tough enough that wire cutters or scissors won’t cut through. The lock is usually a cylinder lock, though combination locks are also available, as are master keyed and keyed alike sets.
Basically securing them in place so they don’t get stolen at shops
Ответить🤣🤣🤣 a special kind of Sherlock this one, cos I didn’t know until I found out then I knew what I didn’t know then
ОтветитьHad to listen 5 times to decipher what he was saying.
ОтветитьIt's to prevent theft in shops for display or demo tech, It may be used in some library's and schools, but not that I've ever seen.
ОтветитьKensington lock. NEXT!
ОтветитьI actually knew that because i worked in a tech store for a year
ОтветитьIt's to bolt them to the wall so they don't stolen
ОтветитьSooo.. Can you remove that cover with the lock without any tools? If so then that's a massive oversight 😂
ОтветитьNow that y'all know about it, you'll never not see it everywhere.
You have a laptop? It's got one.
A flat screen tv? I can guarantee it has one
A monitor? There's a pretty high chance it's got one too
They are just everywhere!
Why are his consoles so dirty
ОтветитьThank you! I’ve always wanted to know
ОтветитьKensington lock for display or public places
ОтветитьDidn't show anything about it. Worthless.
Ответитьa laptop at my school had one ripped out, easily couldve caused chaos
ОтветитьTo lock your system to a desk or wall with a lock called a Kensington lock
ОтветитьKensington lock
ОтветитьTell me you don’t work in corporate security without saying it
ОтветитьI always knew the general idea of what they were, but they always perplexed me
I mean, if you think about it, even if the lock itself is metal, a system can only be as secure as its container... And most of the time, that container is plastic
Wouldn't you rather have a display case for devices like this? Something made of some sort of durable glass or super thick acrylic, with some metal at the back with holes for ventilation? It may be more expensive, but if you're putting these things on display, you're planning on making money off of them anyways
I did know about them. But that security is probably the crappiest I've seen normally it's connected to the entire chassis and mother board not a little square lol
ОтветитьThis is why MacBooks get stolen en masse from Apple stores. No k lock.
ОтветитьNot watching it’s a Kensington lock.
ОтветитьIs that the thing that’s been on every electronic device for the past 30 years? Crazy. Who knew? 🤷🏻♂️
ОтветитьI hate these worthless videos
ОтветитьIt doesn’t prevent theft but it does draw attention
ОтветитьIt's a Kensington lock
ОтветитьPeople that come to the comments just to say they know what it is just baffles me.
ОтветитьUsed to lock and set alarms in shop displays
ОтветитьFor game lounge and boys and girls clubs etc.
ОтветитьThat's the slot for the Kensington Lock
Ответитьyup it's a Kensington lock... and water is wet.
ОтветитьSKLERMP!
ОтветитьGenuinely, is this not just the basically, commonest most knowledge ever?
Sincerely, being born... In 1982, first thing the doctor, while smoking a cigarette and a scotch in his other hand, held me upside down, gave me the scotch, and said, "Kensington Locks, it looks like this... Nobody every really uses it except for business, and people that don't want their shit shit on...", I declined the cigarette.
Even I knew they were bad for you... and I weres um faking toaddler!
This has been a thing forever .
ОтветитьI love this cyclic age of information, we've come full circle.
I wonder what we'll have to rediscover in 20 years from now...
I love the xbox one s
