everyone makes points about how they could have done this, or caused this, and the instances where people walking have been hit by cyclists. 99.9% of these instances do not involve messengers. we are professionals at a job just like anyone else. these alleycat races are us having fun, maybe 10 times a year, tops. suck it the fuck up and live a little! also, don't tell me to not put myself in danger, that's my choice.

Do they not stop and think about the possible consequences there could be from their riding? A car could easily swerve to avoid hitting one of them and end up smashing into another vehicle or pedestrian. I don't care if they want to put their own life at risk for a thrill, but putting other people's lives ,who have nothing do with it, at risk is just plain stupid and ignorant.

saw this in rolling stone. i love biking in the city and the thrill of riding with traffic but there is no place for reckless riding. and for those who say people don't get killed doing this, a friend of mine severely injured a biker who thought it was ok to ride between cars on a busy street and ended up in a blind spot. in car vs biker, car wins 100% of the time.

I'm a cyclist and I severely disapprove of the way these people endanger not just themselves but others. I don't care how good they are at what they're doing, they are taking unreasonable chances where there is no margin for errors. They can do this on a private racetrack, where everyone has signed up to put themselves in danger, but these are public roads, where there are people of all ages and all skills who are are not expecting idiots like that racing near them for an adrenalin kick.

Einstein liked cycling but unfortunately people with very low IQs also like cycling. The police should use this clip as evidence to arrest some of these idiots.

If you're moving past cars in motion, doors are not likely to be opened - that's only for stationary vehicles. Paradoxically, this sort of behaviour make mean you're less prone to "dooring". As noted in the movie, it may seem chaotic, but there's a "rhythm" to the cars - and you'd note when they've stopped for doors to be opened. Still, would be interesting to know what the stats are for serious accidents for this class of cyclists, and alley cat races in particular.

You should watch the movie. Yeah, what they do is dangerous, but they actually rely more on the traffic carrying on as if they weren't there. When drivers freak out and start slamming on brakes, that's when accidents happen. These guys are incredibly skilled riders, they read traffic and ride in gaps - it's not a fluke that they're still alive.

One person's stupidity is another person's passion. Everyone who is diss approving or talking negatively about this just don't understand how these people feel about their sport, hobby, and passion. Just because you don't like it or agree with it doesn't mean you have to talk down or make rude comments. Keep that to yourself. Because no one likes hearing that.
