It's funny - I'm an employee of the federal government and I am extremely excited about DOGE. I've seen the beast from inside and this is desperately needed. Lucky for me, I'm damn near retired and if the axe comes for me, I'll be given early retirement, but my position is pretty vital so I doubt I'll get the axe.

I am curious the structure of the DOGE. How and can it actually do what is should be doing? Gov isn’t a business it has a lot of red tape and regulations.

As long as Musk et al. avoid influencing procurement decisions, this could turn out to be the exact opposite of Italy's experiment of joint gov't/industry decision making a century ago. If DOGE disestablishes after its mission is accomplished, it could set an example for how federal gov't can be flexible in addressing pressing issues at a high level while avoiding gov't bloat/mission creep.
