The ending of Revival gave me nightmares and unsettled me like very few. Even after years of reading it, it gives me goosebumps 😳. The Haunting of Hill House was a bit a letdown for me, I liked the beginning but it lost me half-way true, it didn't keep the haunting for me.
ОтветитьNew subscriber, just because of Mom!
ОтветитьI read revival in March and it’s one I still think about the ending of that book is one of King‘s best
ОтветитьThe ending of Revival genuinely unsettled the hell out of me. The level of tension that was maintained through the course of over 50 years of someone’s life was incredibly impressive.
ОтветитьStephen King’s REVIVAL isn’t really that scary. The scariest part was towards the end where the afterlife was described with utter despair and hopelessness. It was like an H. P. Lovecraft scenario. King’s novels from the 70’s and 80’s were really terrifying! His terrifying works within the millennium were DUMA KEY and LISEY’S STORY.
ОтветитьI know this so random but.. you're so lucky to still have your parents and get "mom calls" to check on you. I'm jealous ☺️
ОтветитьYES! Finally, somebody on BookTube mentions Necroscope. That serious is single-handily my favorite series of all time. It's like Tom Clancy meets the paranormal with horror. Love, love, love.
ОтветитьWait, so what book is the scariest book ever?
ОтветитьWe have always lived in the castle, is a better read still a bit of a character piece but somehow creepier
ОтветитьSo nice the call from your mom 🥹🥹
ОтветитьNot necessarily a horror book, just kinda spooky that I enjoyed was Cabinet of Curiosities by Preston and Childs, good popcorn flick kinda book
ОтветитьAmerican psycho goes from dismemberment to a chapter about Janet jackson. It was so good
ОтветитьI have Hell House on my TBR (the wonky pile on the arm of my sofa) and I’m so excited to get around to it, it sounds so fun 🤩
ОтветитьI just started getting to horror and my man, as soon as you said Rose Red I said bet lol
ОтветитьHell house is amazing!
ОтветитьI liked The Talisman. I read KOKO by Straub and was disappointed. Turned me off his work tho I own the others. Matheson is a fantastic writer. Search any great TV horror in 60s/70s and Matheson wrote it.
ОтветитьThe Necroscope series by Brian Lumley is great...not set in America though, it's largely set between the UK and Russia.
ОтветитьLike for the call alone. (The rest is great too)
ОтветитьOmg, I just looked it up was up way late one night and Ghost Story (1981) was playing and I thought scary movie, let’s see what happens. Your description made me curious and yep it was based off the book. Though the image that made this movie unforgettable was the unexpected scene of a naked man falling from a high rise with his willy wagging in the wind on the way down. 😂😂😂 couldn’t quite remember the plot but that part I will never forget, to this day I have the same reaction.
ОтветитьI'm so glad you mentioned necroscope, i absolutely love that book.
ОтветитьREVIVAL!!! Hell yeah. What a great read🙌 thanks for the recs!
ОтветитьWhat does TBR stand for??
ОтветитьGhost Story is my second favorite horror novel of all time. My absolute favorite is The Ceremonies by T.E.D. Klein. His collection of 4 novellas Dark Gods is also superb.
ОтветитьYour recommendations don't fail to impress. I added three to my TBR. I'm reading Echo" by Thomas Olde Heuvelt right now.
Ответитьdamn, so confused, i thought your video was gonna be about Speak No Evil the new film thats a remake lol you have James McAvoy's outfit!!!
ОтветитьI really enjoyed American Psycho! Such a good one in book and movie!!! Quick little monologue with mom ha ha I thought that book, Mary An Awakening of Terror was actually kind of scary the more I have sat with it later. I think it is also because I did use the audio book version, at times, when I was cleaning at night, and I found myself pausing it, looking around, and chuckling to myself about getting freaked out. Spiral sounds good! I had Ghost Story on my list and never got it and now here is a recommendation...hmmmmm
ОтветитьGhost Story is as close as you can get to a Stephen King book
ОтветитьI loved Rose Red. Yes, the special effects at the end leave a bit to be desired, but the rest of it is creepy fun, and the cast is fabulous. What I wanted, and still do, is the Stephen King Rose Red novel, but alas it's not to be. (there is a prequel, , not written by Stephen King, it's just ok). Thank you for mentioning Revival, it's highly underrated and one of my favorite King books, top tier for sure, and I've read everything the man has ever written. If you liked Necroscope.. or didn't like it.. they get better as they go. An almost completely forgotten, yet really excellent horror series. Also the old covers are just wonderful. I agree with you on Haunting of Hill House.. I was so disappointed when I read it, way overhyped. If you want something truly different try on Black River Orchard by Chuck Wendig. You will never look at an apple the same way again.
ОтветитьIf you like short stories and Lovecraft I highly recommend "The Black Sutra" by Walter C. DeBill Jr. He expands Lovecraft's and Zealia Bishop's stories in a western genre.
ОтветитьI've also only read those two books by Richard Matheson and Hellhouse is also my favorite. Actually, I haven't wanted to read any other of his books because I'm afraid I'm not going to like them as much lol. I think what I liked the most about that book is how the characters had a limited time to investigate the house (i think a week) and they scheduled like, "today we're gonna analyse the kitchen, tomorrow the pool", etc and every room has a different kind of haunting
ОтветитьRevival is in my top 5 Stephen King books. That ending left me in an existential crisis lmao
ОтветитьI would recommend just about anything from Dean Koontz
ОтветитьGreat list of books! So, what’s the scariest book you’ve ever read?
ОтветитьI have to say, when it comes to Richard Matheson, a stir of echoes is far superior
ОтветитьYou might enjoy a manga called 'PTSD Radio'
ОтветитьHello Rammel's mom!
ОтветитьNot a horror story, but what do you think of Rage? SK/RB.
ОтветитьI have read the first 5 books of the Necroscope Series, they are all awesome.
ОтветитьHaunting of Hill House is totally overblown and one of the most boring books I've ever read.
ОтветитьRevival intrigues me. I have heard that he nails the ending before. He usually fumbles endings, IMHO.
ОтветитьStephen King has a hell house too
ОтветитьI would like to add Scott Smith The Ruins to your list. Such a highly original & super creepy / scary read!!
ОтветитьMy Amazon cart has become a lot more full after this video 😂
