That was an outstanding interview gentlemen. Victor is a class act for sure.

John, that was great interview. I remember Victor back in the day and what a great physique he displayed. Being from Mass he was definitely someone we looked up to along with other terrific bodybuilders (i.e. Jeff King, Mike Quinn, Paul Demayo, Mike Mattarazo).

Although Victor said he weighed 100 pounds for his first contest at 16 his genetics were obvious!

I met Bob Gruskin at the Teenage Mr America in 87. I went there hoping to just make the top 5. I was in the back after pre judging talking to my friend asking if I made the top 5 in the Medium tall class and this little guy walked up to me and said, shit kid you won your class by far. And as he walked away he said, now don’t go eat a bunch of garbage between now and tonight because your right up their. Frank V won the overall but I was so elated to win the med- tall it didn’t matter. A guy said next to me holy crap that was Bob Gruskin he is a writer for Muscular Development! Bob later trained me for the USA which I won my class under his guidance and 5th at the Mr World. I used to visit him in the Bronx before shows. He got me into the health care field a RT respiratory therapist. He was a genius when it came to bodybuilding. The long days and nights posing in the basement. What a magical time. I met Victor a couple times but he probably doesn’t remember me. What a wonderful time in my life.

This homie reminds me of a few of my friends at Hollenneck youth center in Boyle heights. Just from the weight room. One is Polo from Mexico. 5ft and solid

Would love to see some of the nutritional and training programs wrote by Bob Guskin.

The Teenage shows back then were extremely competitive. Lots of extremely talented teenage bodybuilders back then.

Great interview!! Vic and my Uncle(Mike Antorino) were good friends. And yes Bob was definitely awesome!! I knew him since 5 years old. Helped my Uncle a ton. Later would eventually help me as well.

I only saw a picture of Victor way back in the early nineties. It's cool to finally hear his voice.

John ,Great interview with Victor, love watching your videos from the 70's & 80's, I met Bob when I did my first Contest in Teenage Pennsylvania in 1979 I placed 2nd in Short Class, I was training with Ron Teufel for the show and Bob said I had good symmetry & muscle structure and to keep at it that's my encounter with Bob ,very nice guy of course Bob took many Photos of Ron over the years

Chris Aceto talks about this guy all the time.

Love the old school stories

I remember a few of the east coast bodybuilders from the 70s and 80s. I thought they were amazing. As a lifelong California builder I had nothing but respect for those guys. I personally felt they were overlooked, I also thought most of the AAU and NABBA builders from the 70s and 80s had much more complete physiques.

Met Victor when i was a teen and he did a seminar in the bronx with matt dufresne. Both very nice guy's. Gruskin would come by that gym.i never knew what legend that little old guy was.

I first saw Victor in a picture of a back issue shown in Sport & Fitness mag in UK, I was so impressed I went to the mag HQ to buy the issue as it was local to me, rated him highly ever since, legend! I also met Eugene Laviscount at 15yrs old the other Universe winner who acually lived near me, my local heroe!!!
